PSA: Phony Pheminists

Terri Whitehouse September 15th, 2008

Aww, how precious. Conservatives have gone and discovered pheminism. A whole week-ish after I called it like I saw it, B. Hussein Osama’s uppity ass went and said that the same old bullshit by any other name still stinks.

It doesn’t just stink. It STANKS!

At any rate, it’s really sweet to see the GOP hustle at developing their pheminist muscles. (No, I’m not talking about kegels.) To the conservatives out there who are new to pheminism, I’d like to offer a very brief rundown of the concept. I understand that you’ve dedicated your whole lives to harming women’s physical, psychological, and financial well-being, so there are bound to be early failures. Pheminism, like any asset worth having, doesn’t develop over night. You’ve got to practice!

First off, rushing to the defense of your VP, as though she were a Damsel in Distress and not a damn pit bull-skinned moose hunter is problematic. Read and learn. No, rape is nowhere near as bad as some boy being a big meanie, but I think the same concept applies.

Secondly, please understand the difference between “feminism” and “pheminism.” Feminists are a bunch of fugly, hairy, man-hating sluts that care about shit like getting paid, and not dying as a result of pregnancy. Real trivial crap.

Pheminists, on the other hand, are beautiful, non-threatening white women (mostly) who collect wingnut welfare and have made hefty money putting bitches in their place. Intellectually, feminists win hands down, but who wants to hang with a bunch of humorless brainiacs? Pheminists are women, so you don’t have to hide or feel all guilty about your deep-seeded innate hatred of them.

Finally, it’s 2008, not 1968. Therefore, it’s probably not the brightest idea to call out supposed sexist attacks by reverting back to racist dogwhistles. While it’s admirable that you’re coming to pheminism in the 9th inning, better not to do it on the back of racism. That’s not how feminism works.

This is.

The New 21st Century Baby Mommas, Big Oil, Bankers and Farmers!

Jim Pence July 15th, 2008

Have you ever been in a rural Kentucky church or restaurant and hear folks wailing about all those "Baby Mommas" on welfare? Well I have and I hear it all the time and it’s coming out of the mouths of those receiving more money than you can imagine, what a bunch of hypocrites!!!!!!
Recipients of USDA Subsidies in Kentucky’s 1st Congressional District (Rep. Ed Whitfield ) totaled $1.253 billion , with a "B", from 1995-2006, that’s a lot of dough and, in my opinion, it’s nothing more than welfare!!!! It sure as hell ain’t the free market.
Meanwhile food prices are skyrocketing and some farmers are being paid not to grow crops !!!
It seems to me if you want a government hand out your best bets are:

  • Get into the, "Baby Momma ", oil business.
  • Put on your bib overalls and become a, " Baby Momma ", farmer.
  • Put on your shirt, tie and Armani suit and become a, "Baby Momma ", banker.

I suggest your chance for a government hand is not so good if you own a small business or you’re a regular guy/gal with 1,2 or 3 jobs and don’t even think about asking the government to help with healthcare.

Quick Hit: Anne Northup = FAIL

Terri Whitehouse June 25th, 2008

Anne Northup will lose badly and leave politics forever,” says the LEO’s new editor, Stephen George:

What an insult, to stand in front of a gas station owned by one of the wealthiest families in Louisville — one of your biggest campaign contributors — and act like you’re some populist baby Jesus who’s returned to save everyone from four bucks a gallon. Not only is this “policy” feather-light on intellect, but it is a dangerous, stupid and purely political approach to the energy question, which will require manifold real-life solutions, not the lip service Northup has paid to her party’s minority view of a balanced, multi-level federal energy agenda.

And how!

Sugar Coma

Terri Whitehouse June 17th, 2008

Page One and some other self-aggrandizing bloggers have noted Sen. Mitch McConnell’s shaky poll numbers, and I wanted to expound on that a little.

Career beltway-ist McConnell has done his best to paint incumbent candidate Bruce Lunsford as an incompetent status-seeking businessman. Funny, then, that Lunsford is leading among low-to-middle-income Kentuckians without college educations. Now, I hold nothing against people who make more than I do, and I certainly wouldn’t go hurling “college-educated” around as an insult, but given that Kentucky ranks near the bottom in terms of education and income, McConnell is going to have a heck of a time positioning himself as someone who is really in touch with the “average” Kentucky voter.

Being that McConnell’s campaign site has been redesigned to showcase his ability to roll up the sleeves on his tastefully casual shirt rather than sit around pushing papers in a suit and tie, I’d guess that he’s more than a little worried. Over half of Mitch’s twenty most-recent blog posts urge readers to sign a petition for a bill designed to do exactly nothing about our petroleum dependence, so I’d urge you to try something different instead. Why, it seems like it was only yesterday when McConnell thought it’d be enough that he brought home the pork-barrel projects. I guess he’s getting wise that Kentuckians need someone with a little more substance than that.

Quick Hit: It’s Their Nature

Terri Whitehouse April 15th, 2008

There’s an excellent post by Pam Spaulding about a racist comment that Rep. Geoff Davis made at an event in which Sen. Mitch McConnell also gave the world the opportunity to see just how low class the Kentucky GOP can be. I can’t remember where I read it, but my favorite defense of Davis’s racist remark so far is that he was hopefully just drunk. Desperate measures, indeed.

OPINION: DUMB AND DUMBER, THE REST OF THE STORY!

Jim Pence February 9th, 2008

Why Ron Lewis Quit:

  1. Mike Weaver exposed Ron Lewis during the 2006 election cycle. Weaver was effective enough to force Ron Lewis to spend $1,975,693 even though Ron only raised $1,707,710.
  2. Ron’s wife Kayi defied Senator Mitch McConnell and supported Ernie Fletcher in his re election bid for governor by serving as co-chair for Gov. Ernie Fletcher’s re-election campaign.
We all know what happens to Republicans when they cross Mitch, just ask Chris Thieneman and he’ll tell you all about that.

It’s obvious that Ron Lewis was in the dog house with Mitch so Ron devised a plan to get even with the “God Father Of Green” , by quitting at the last minute with a plan to put his choice for Kentucky’s 2nd district congressman, Daniel London, on the ballot, at the last minute, and then sit back and watch Mitch McConnell steam. It was really a dumb and dumber plan, because Mitch got wind of it and hand picked a candidate, State Sen. Brett Guthrie, at the last minute to foil the plan of, dumb and dumber.
Now that dumb (Congressman Ron Lewis) got caught, like a child with their hand in the cookie jar, he issued an apology, that can be read in its entirety below this post and dumber (Daniel London) decided to withdraw from the race after praying about it, his, dumber’s, statement can be seen below dumb’s statement at the end of this post.
Some of us knew how bad we were being represented here in Kentucky’s 2nd District and now everyone knows and that’s the rest of the story!!!!

Dumb’s Statement:
I struggled with this decision until the last possible moment. After prayer and consultation with my family, I chose to retire and encouraged a former member of my staff to launch a bid to become my potential successor.
Upholding the trust of those that I represent has always been my primary objective in public office. My decisions last week were not thought through in a fair and realistic way. The political future of the region that I represent weighed heavily on my mind and, in hindsight, clouded my good judgment. I realize now the extent to which I have disappointed my constituents, supporters, colleagues and staff.
I would like to publicly apologize for my poor judgment and humbly ask for the forgiveness of all those who I have let down. There are no excuses for how I chose to manage my announcement. I regret it deeply and want to do all that I can to put it right and restore your faith in me during my remaining time in office.
I am humbled each day by the trust you have placed in me to serve your interests in Washington, DC. I intend to finish the final year of my congressional career fighting stronger than ever for a safer, hopeful future for Kentucky families. And when the 110th Congress draws to a close, I will look forward to leaving the seat that I occupy in good and capable hands, spending more time with my loved ones, and catching up on so many things that I have missed while in public office.
Thank you for your continued understanding and support.

Dumber’s Statement:
Congressman Lewis’ decision not to run for re-election came very quickly and our decision to run came just as fast. I am quite confident we would have been successful. However, after considering all that was ahead of me and my family, we determined this wasn’t the right time for us.
I am truly honored for the overwhelming encouragement I received early in this effort from supporters across the district. I am grateful for their support and their belief in my candidacy and vision for central Kentucky.
Sen. Brett Guthrie is a good man and as a Republican I intend to get behind him and support him for election and will encourage all my supporters to do the same.
I want to again thank Congressman Lewis for his great service to our country and the district and for his support and friendship.”

Ooooooh! Buuuuurrrrn!

Terri Whitehouse February 2nd, 2008

There is an excellent editorial in today’s Courier-Journal about Sen. Mitch McConnell titled, appropriately enough, “The Back Of His Hand“:

Millions of Americans are in economic trouble, while the Big Energy friends of George W. Bush and Mitch McConnell wallow in historic profits. Yesterday, Exxon Mobil Corp. posted the largest annual gain ever by a U.S. company — $40.6 billion. The rest of us are left to cower at the gasoline pumps.

Mitch McConnell feels he deserves re-election because he “does so much for Kentucky.” Never mind what he and his friend have done to America.

For real, though! Go read the whole shebang.

OPINION: THERE’S TROUBLE RIGHT HERE IN RIVER CITY. YOUTUBE VIDEO.

Jim Pence January 29th, 2008

I don’t know Chris Thieneman from Adam, but I feel for the guy because he’s encountering the wrath of Anne Northup and Senator Mitch McConnell. I realize, Chris Thienaman is a Republican, but he is standing up to power and I respect that.
It’s just more proof that Senator Mitch McConnell is the boss here in Kentucky and if you get in his way, you’re gonna pay. If you’re Heather Ryan, a Democrat, asking Senator Mitch McConnell a question he’s uncomfortable with, or a dedicated Republican not doing what Senator Mitch McConnell wants, the results are the same, you’re gonna pay.
Heather Ryan is a Democrat and Chris Thieneman is a Republican, and I have this to say to both of them, you’re gonna find out who your real friends are.
When it comes to politics Chris Thieneman and I may not agree on anything, but I believe we can agree on this, we don’t always go along to get along and we know what goes around comes around.
This is a free country and those that want to kiss Senator Mitch McConnell’s ass are free to do so and those that want to kick his ass are just as free.
I don’t know about you, but I’m not in a ass kissing mood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The video below is audio from the Tony Cruise Show Yesterday, January 28, 2008 and don’t be surprised if Senator Mitch McConnell pressures WHAS 840 to have the video removed from Youtube. If you click on the video and it says this video is no longer available, then you’ll know that Senator Mitch McConnell doesn’t want you to see it, but don’t get discouraged, if that occurs, just send me an email requesting the video and I’ll send it to you.

Who’s Your Daddy?

Terri Whitehouse January 11th, 2008

Republicans sure love their daddy state, don’t they? Oh, sure, they’ll raise stink about big government when it comes to public health or helping families, but damned if they’re not itching to bend you over their knees for a fierce spanking when it comes to issues of bodily autonomy or privacy.

Don’t Shit Where You Eat, Mitch

Terri Whitehouse December 11th, 2007

Well, actually Sen. Mitch McConnell is a beltway careerist, so he mainly eats in D.C., but commenter Judy pointed out that there are several letters to the editor in today’s C-J that express a great deal of contempt for Mitch’s recent statement about troop deaths, in which Sen. McConnell belittled the sacrifices of these men, women, and their families.

There’s this:

It is beyond the pale to minimize the value of the lives of American soldiers because they are full-time soldiers and aren’t draftees, especially when it is McConnell’s dogged loyalty to the vastly unpopular policies of George W. Bush that have led to indefinitely leaving our soldiers in Iraq to die.

And this:

Actually, many of those killed have been members of various national guards, who enlisted for part-time service to aid their home states in such efforts as tornado and flood relief. Most of these men and women never envisioned that their altruism would lead to full-time service and possible dismemberment or death halfway around the world, policing a civil war where over 75 percent of that population wants the U.S. out of their country immediately.

And finally this:

Does this mean that he thinks that the lives of professional soldiers are somehow worth less than the lives of draftees? We Kentuckians have a big problem in Washington: His name is Mitch McConnell. Ditch Mitch in ‘08!

I like the brevity and punch of that last letter. Ditch Mitch indeed!

I’ll Give You A Nickel if You Wiggle My Trickle

Terri Whitehouse September 10th, 2007

In today’s New York Times, Pal Krugman sheds some light on the true impact of the Bush economy:

It’s true, as the Bushies never tire of reminding us, that the U.S. economy has added eight million jobs since that 2003 tax cut. That sounds impressive, unless you happen to know that a good part of that gain was simply a recovery from large job losses earlier in the administration’s tenure — and that the United States added no fewer than 21 million jobs after Bill Clinton raised taxes on the rich, a move that had conservative pundits predicting economic disaster.

What’s really remarkable, however, is that four years of economic growth have produced essentially no gains for ordinary American workers.

Wages, adjusted for inflation, have stagnated: the real hourly earnings of nonsupervisory workers, the most widely used measure of how typical workers are faring, were no higher in July 2007 than they were in July 2003.

Meanwhile, benefits have deteriorated: the percentage of Americans receiving health insurance through employers, which plunged along with employment during the early years of the Bush administration, continued to decline even as the economy finally began creating some jobs.

And one of the few seeming bright spots of the Bush-era economy, rising homeownership, is now revealed as the result of a bubble inflated in part by financial flim-flam, which deceived both borrowers and investors.

Now you know why 66 percent of Americans rate economic conditions in this country as only fair or poor, and why Americans disapprove of President Bush’s handling of the economy almost as strongly as they disapprove of the job he is doing in general.

Yet the overall economy has grown at a reasonable pace over the past four years. Where did the economic growth go? The answer is that it went to the same economic elite that received the lion’s share of those tax cuts.

Is anyone surprised at all by this? Here at DM-KY, we’ve highlighted several items which illustrate the hostility with which regular working Americans are treated by the GOP. McConnell and Co: we’re on to you and you should be very afraid.

NEW MORTGAGE FORECLOSURES SET RECORD. DOES GEORGE W. BUSH CARE THAT FRIENDS AND FAMILIES OF OUR TROOPS ARE LOSING THEIR HOMES?

Jim Pence September 8th, 2007

Opinion
Homeowners, struggling to deal with sharp increases in their adjustable mortgage payments, are being hit with a record number of foreclosure notices.
Alan Greenspan former chairman of the US Federal Reserve, said: “What we are observing in the last seven weeks is identical in many respects to what we saw in 1998, what we saw in the stock market crash of 1987.”
Countrywide Financial Corp plans to cut 12,000 jobs. I hope some of those that lose their jobs will be pissed off enough to expose the predatory lending practices of Countrywide Financial Corp., but I’m not holding my breath for that to occur.

A letter issued by Angelo Mozillo Chairman of Countrywide Financial and Dave Sambol, President, explaining all the layoffs at Countrywide Financial today. Here’s the most relevant excerpt.
As has always been the case in previous cycles when the market has shifted and our volumes and related revenues fell, we need to again adjust our organization by scaling back our operations and reducing our cost structure accordingly. Unfortunately, the only way to accomplish this is to make significant reductions in our workforce which we estimate to range between 10,000-12,000 employees (which includes reductions that we have already made). As of July 31, Countrywide employed more than 61,000 people. The areas primarily affected will be our production divisions, and the general and administrative support areas of the Company. Areas which we do not expect to be materially impacted by workforce reductions include our banking operations, our insurance businesses and our loan servicing operations, each of which are expected to continue growing in both the short-term and long-term. As noted above, the distributed retail unit of our Consumer Markets Division will continue to aggressively grow its sales force while adjusting its expense structure to the new reality of the marketplace.

Are You Ready For Inflation?

August 10, 2007
The Federal Reserve on Friday injected a total of $38 billion into the markets in three steps, which began with a $19 billion injection into the banking system, followed by a second addition of $16 billion and finally a third dose of $3 billion. The Fed on Thursday added $24 billion in temporary reserves. See full story.

Deja vu all over again?

In the early 1980s, under Reagan, regulatory changes took place that gave the S&L industry new powers and for the first time in history measures were taken to increase the profitability of S&Ls at the expense of promoting home ownership.
A history of the S&L situation can be found here:
http://www.fdic.gov/bank/historical/s&l/
What is important to note about the S&L scandal is that it was the largest theft in the history of the world and US tax payers are who was robbed.
The problems occurred in the Savings and Loan industry as they relate to theft because the industry was deregulated under the Reagan/Bush administration and restrictions were eased on the industry so much that abuse and misuse of funds became easy, rampant, and went unchecked.
Additional facts on the Savings and Loan Scandal can be found here:
http://www.inthe80s.com/sandl.shtml
There are several ways in which the Bush family plays into the Savings and Loan scandal, which involves not only many members of the Bush family but also many other politicians that are still in office and still part of the Bush Jr. administration today. Jeb Bush, George Bush Sr., and his son Neil Bush have all been implicated in the Savings and Loan Scandal, which cost American tax payers over $1.4 TRILLION dollars.

How can George W. Bush say he supports the Troops when he is allowing the homes of their families, and friends to be foreclosed?

WHAT GEORGE W. BUSH DIDN’T TELL THE TROOPS IN IRAQ DURING HIS LABOR DAY VISIT

Jim Pence September 4th, 2007

Opinion
What George W. Bush didn’t tell the troops in Iraq during his Labor day visit:

The Iraq war time line.

FARMER, LARRY HEDGEPETH, IS NOT HAPPY WITH GOVERNMENT FARM POLICIES.

Jim Pence August 17th, 2007

Below is a letter to the editor that has been sent to several news papers in Kentucky:

Recently I got a letter begging for money for the Fletcher’s campaign.

Even though I am a Republican, I am a Kentuckian first, so I thought it was a joke because no one I know that cares about the future of Kentucky would want four more years of embarrassment and corruption.

Then, to top it off. . . I find out he is coming to Hart County to beg for money. I guess it is because he is famous; O.J. Simpson is too, and no one wants him here either.

When I flip the card over I find one more of the three musketeers is backing him, this being Ron Lewis. The same Ron Lewis who told us he was in favor of term limits, and I sincerely hope in 2008 we help him accomplish this.

To show you how inept our government is, Ernie spends between $30 and $40 million to promote “Kentucky Pride” to get people to use Kentucky products. Bush spends millions to promote environmentally Ag production. Mitch and Ron are spending $100 million plus to stop the production of Kentucky products and Mitch and Ron spend $100 million plus to destroy the environment. The Kentucky Ag Development Board has spent millions of dollars building barns, fences, water supply and improve grassland. While Mitch, Ron and Ernie spend $100 million plus to stop the use of these facilities, U of K has spent generations perfecting Kentucky’s native grass KY-31 and preventing the spread of noxious weeds while the three musketeers are using dangerous chemicals to destroy Kentucky’s grass and promoting the spread of dangerous weeds.

One of the truly bad parts of this is one of the representatives told me the average voter and taxpayer would never know what was going on. With this kind of leadership you can now see why we are losing the war in Iraq, the war on health care, and they will probably lose the entire social security system. This is being done because big oil, chemical and drug companies and a few millionaires I feel are buying or renting politicians.

The programs Ernie, Ron and Mitch are pushing are guaranteed failures. This can be documented through something politicians fear more than anything. . . It is called the use of facts and truth.

We are fortunate in that these programs will all show a failure rate of 90% plus before the 2008 elections. Through some of these programs, we have uncovered massive waste of taxpayers dollars, blatant rip offs of the system and corruption in government offices.

I sure hope that Fletcher and Bush have plenty of pardon papers left. In the next few months, we will be showing you using facts how these programs destroy the environment, enhance global warming, seriously damage your health, raise the price of food and fuel and tries to virtually eliminates small farmers. We will be doing this by the use of web sites like. . . Hillbilly Report, Ditch Mitch and Youtube.

Remember we want to show the people that they may be able to buy or rent some of our politicians, but they can’t buy Kentucky votes. Any ad produced by or for Ernie, Mitch or Ron that is not factual (probably around 95%) will be pointed out to the public.

If you want to know why I use three musketeers when there are actually four, we as Republicans intend on working with Democrats and Independents to eliminate one of them in November, so he won’t be there for the final curtain call of the other three in their reign.

Please listen for the sound of paper shredders and computer disc erasers in the coming months, they will be busy.
