Such Vulgarity Gives Me the Vapors

Terri Whitehouse September 26th, 2007

Via Crooks & Liars comes video of Rep. John Yarmuth speaking on the House floor:

With brave American soldiers dying in record numbers, I have two questions for the President — just whose posteriors are we kicking and how do you know? With Sunnis and Shiites killing themselves and each other, plus an incompetence Maliki government, we don’t know who we’re fighting, much less where we’re kicking them. And while we’re tied up in Iraq, Al Qaeda thrives in Pakistan and Afghanistan. So the President’s turn of phrase will go to the blooper hall of fame with other Bush Golden Oldies like last throes, links to Al Qaeda and Mission Accomplished. There was a time when America’s success meant defeating Nazis, tearing down communism’s Iron Curtain and walking on the moon. Supportng our troops meant honest safeguards, not trash talk. How low have our standards fallen when the President points to the debacle he created and says, this is what I’m proud of. Most americans believe in a country that’s capable of much higher standards, and if America were really “kicking butt,” the President wouldn’t need to say anything, every one would know it. I yield back.

ANTI WAR PROTEST ENDS UP WITH 250 PROTESTORS AT SENATOR MITCH MCCONNELL’S HOUSE, IN LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY YOUTUBE VIDEO.

Jim Pence August 29th, 2007

Kentucky may be a Red State now, but it’s turning Blue fast. When, folks in Kentucky decide to hold a war protest and then march to Senator Mitch McConnell’s house, it’s a good bet that times are a changing.
Hundreds of people gathered at Bellarmine University to protest the Iraq War and then 250 of them marched to Senator Mitch McConnell’s house to send Mitch a message.
Mitch had a few of his people there to counter the protest but they cut and ran when they saw they were out numbered, what a bunch of Wussies!!!!!!
Senator Mitch McConnell are ya listening????

GEORGE W. BUSH HAS COLONOSCOPY AND THE DOCTORS TELL HIM “THERE’S A RING AROUND URANUS.”

Jim Pence July 25th, 2007

This is the video of the George W, Bush colonoscopy . It seems several obstructions were removed including Senator Mitch McConnell. George W. Bush seemed to be upset when the Doctors told him there’s a ring around Uranus.

At the very least we found where Dick Cheney’s undisclosed location is!!!

Senator Mitch McConnell, it seems, has also found a very comfortable place to reside, when he’s not in the closet.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (and Jim Pence) on Monday night

Matt Gunterman June 22nd, 2007

On Monday night, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart will feature some footage shot by Kentucky’s very own Jim Pence of the HillybillyReport.com and also a contributor here at DitchMitchKY.com.

When the history of Kentucky’s blogosphere is one day written, that history will note that among the most prolific, dedicated, and certainly most unique contributors was Jim Pence of Hardin County.

For, in his retirement from a decidedly industrial-era career, Jim took to and took on the Information Age, and in the process he molded it and taught us all a thing or two about how to use it effectively and creatively.

Jim’s niche, by the way, is digital video, and his work is known for its biting wit and unrepentant orneriness, a style he has rightly and proudly labeled “hillbilly.” He has traversed the state recording the intersection of national, state, and local politics in Kentucky, and — through the Internet — he has made that material accessible to the entire world and has, in fact, given it to history.

And the world is using it.

You see, while perusing YouTube for video of Wesley Clark last week, a researcher for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart came across some of Jim’s footage of Clark in the fall of 2006 stumping for Democrat Col. Mike Weaver in his campaign in Kentucky’s Second Congressional District. They immediately contacted Jim, offered to have the video overnighted to their studios, and have said it will air on Monday night.

So, let’s all offer Jim our congratulations for a job well done and take a second to marvel a bit at how the era we’re living in is reshaping the creative and political landscape, when people like Jim Pence and Jon Stewart can come together to make a rather powerful point.

Medicare Part D Doughnut Hole Blues (video)

Jim Pence June 20th, 2007

Since the company that I worked for — for over 30 years, I might add — decided to cut my retirement health insurance benefits to near-nothing, I’ve had to use every tool at my disposal to keep the prescription costs for the medications that my wife needs as low as possible.

Medicare Part D has an infamous doughnut hole, and you get into it very fast when companies like Aetna charge you outrages prices for your prescriptions.

This year, when my wife entered the Medicare Part D doughnut hole, I started ordering her prescriptions from Canada. That move will save us over $1000 before the end of the year.

Senator Mitch McConnell
voted to keep Medicare Part D prescriptions at inflated prices when he voted against negotiations that would have lowered Medicare Part D drug prices.

Kentuckians protest the war that Bush and Mitch built for the Derby (Video)

Jim Pence May 5th, 2007

As the world’s attention turns to Louisville and its storied Running of the Roses, Kentuckians gathered outside Churchill Downs to protest President George W. Bush, Senator Mitch McConnell, and their war in Iraq.

It was a fantastic sight to see, and one I was proud to preserve on video.

If you haven’t seen this video, you should definitely watch it. It just demonstrates how these Republicans in Washington are so willing to throw away and waste the lives and rights of other people.

Say What?

Terri Whitehouse April 26th, 2007

On the Today Show earlier this week, Laura Bush said that no one suffers more than she and the president do when it comes to the Iraq War. Wow. The first wives are just about as good at putting their feet in their mouths as their husbands are. Bless their hearts.
