Reading more national coverage about the posts below, it is clear that it’s not just us Kentuckians that are sick and tired of Sen. Mitch McConnell and his shenanigans. So I’d like to issue a little challenge for those of us who truly want to Ditch Mitch this November.
For every minute (~ 510) that it took a clerk to read the bipartisan climate change bill aloud, I’d like to urge you to to donate to campaign of Bruce Lunsford. At a rate of penny per minute, that would total a mere $5.10 donation. A nickel per minute would total $25.50. You get the picture. I know it’s not a great deal of money. But I think it would be a powerful gesture, regardless.
The people of Kentucky and of America are not pawns in Mitch McConnell’s political power games, and before we hit him at the polls, we must hit him where it *really* hurts - his pockets. The government’s business should never be political strategy. Not on my dollar. Not on my penny.
If you agree with me, please repost this blog entry wherever you think it may be welcome, and urge like-minded people to do the same. When a person such as Mitch McConnell makes it so crystal-clear that he has zero interest in representing the people of the Commonwealth, then we have no choice but to elect a person who does. And that person is Bruce Lunsford.
UPDATE: You can also sign up to volunteer for Lunsford’s campaign here. DO IT!

When I read the comment below by Congressman dubya Ed Whitfield, I realized this guy is out of touch with reality here in Kentucky. The fact is Kentucky has lost 2.3 percent of its manufacturing jobs, or almost 7,600, from September 2006 to September 2007 and 26,381 manufacturing jobs, in the previous 5 years, according to Manufacturers’ News. That amounts to 33, 981 manufacturing lost in Kentucky, in just six years.
When Ed Whitfield says “We have enjoyed a strong and robust economy, with impressive job growth over the past decade” I have to wonder what he is smoking!
Is it really a surprise to anyone other than Senator Mitch McConnell, Elaine Chao and Ed Whitfield, that when good jobs disappear and folks can’t afford to buy as much, the economy suffers? Yes Ed its the economy stupid and a stimulus package to give folks a little money to buy products made in China will not cure the mess you have helped put us in. You sir, along with your pal Senator Mitch McConnell, have helped put the United States of America in jeopardy with your never ending quest for cheap labor and your support of Corporate America moving the manufacturing base, with all of the good paying jobs, out of the United States of America to the lands of cheap and sometimes child labor. Mr. Ed sir, with all due respect, it seems you’re more concerned about horses than the stability of the United States of America!
Ed Whitfield:
“Over the years, the American economy has had its ups and downs. We have enjoyed a strong and robust economy, with impressive job growth over the past decade. Today, we are still creating jobs and our economy continues to grow but at a much smaller pace. The steps that are being taken by the government are designed to provide the necessary stimulus to give our economy a strong boost and prevent a recession.”

McConnellism At Work:
According to some sources Ed. Whitfield is not an inhabitant of Kentucky and was not when he was elected, in 2006. If that is the case then Ed. Whitfield lied when he took his oath of office, to uphold the Constitution Of The United States. If in fact Ed. Whitfield was not an inhabitant of Kentucky when he was elected in 2006, he should not have been allowed to take the oath of office!!!
Does, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen mean that Ed Whitfield has to be an inhabitant of Kentucky only on election night? Who knows, but it’s playing fast and loose with the law to interpret it that way. Of course when a person of power and means like Ed Whitfield wants to play fast and loose with the law anything is possible. It sure would be nice if someone other than bloggers would look into this.
We all know where Ed Whitfield’s opponent, Heather Ryan lives and it’s not in California, Virginia, or West Virginia and she won’t be found taking trips, at the tax payers expense, She’ll be right here in Kentucky fighting for seniors and children.
