DEMOCRACY AT WORK IN KENTUCKY!!

Jim Pence January 31st, 2008

I just talked to Heather Ryan ( The Young Lady that Senator Mitch McConnell got fired from her job) on the phone and she is currently building her campaign web-site, in her home, that’s in Kentucky’s 1st Congressional District, on her computer that sits next to her kitchen table. The web-site will be up soon with all of her contact information.
This is in contrast to to her opponent, Ed Whitfield that doesn’t live in Kentucky’s 1st Congressional District, who will have professionals building his campaign web site.
According to some sources Ed Whitfield owns a Newport Beach, California condo but in Kentucky only owns “a lot in Madisonville” worth between $1,000 and $15,000 and nothing more.
It’s odd that no show Ed Whitfield is so enamored with California. Is it possible that we have another Larry Craig right here in Kentucky????
Stay tuned, we’re gonna find out!!!!
Just for the record, for the Whitfield folks that have the ability to read, check out the photo below. Do you see bitch anywhere on the sign? If you don’t then shut the f$%# up!!!!!!
By the way Ed., can you count to 12????

McConnell cancels press event to avoid questions on Craig.

Sen. Larry Craig (R-NM) today announced that he would go the distance and serve until the end of his Senate term. Fox News reports that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who had previously referred to Craig’s conduct as “unforgivable,” canceled a press conference in order “to avoid questions and declined comment about Craig’s future in the Senate.” Watch Fox News’s report:

McConnell’s bile and viciousness tearing GOP apart

Matt Gunterman September 7th, 2007

Before things started falling apart for the Kentucky GOP with the administration of Governor Ernie Fletcher (R) and at the national level with the worsening crises of the bungling presidency of George W. Bush, Senator Mitch McConnell (R) had the luxury of reserving his bile and viciousness for Democrats.

As the going’s gotten rough as of late, McConnell has found himself at odds with his number two Senator Trent Lott (R) and others in leadership (most visibly during the debate over immigration reform), with his fellow Kentuckian Senator Jim Bunning (R) over the handling of the latest GOP scandal with Senator Larry Craig (R), and now McConnell’s wicked traits of personality are tearing the entire GOP apart on Capital Hill. Here’s the story from The Hill:

Lashing out at McConnell
By Betsy Rothstein and Elana Schor

Rep. Mike Simpson (R) condemned Senate GOP leaders on Thursday for their treatment of fellow Idahoan Sen. Larry Craig (R), accusing them of hypocrisy.

“I hope I never stub my toe and they throw me under the bus,” Simpson said of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and other Republican leaders. “It kind of makes you wonder what party you want to be a member of.”

Simpson underscored that he is not considering switching parties. But he also emphasized that he would not want to serve in the Senate, even if chosen by Idaho Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter (R) to replace Craig.

The five-term House member appeared ready to take himself out of the running for a Senate appointment, even though his name remains on Otter’s short list and Craig veered back on Thursday toward resigning, as planned, on Sept. 30.

Simpson said he would pursue a Senate appointment were it in the best interests of his state, but analysts have agreed that his House seniority and status as an appropriator make Simpson more politically valuable to his state if he stays put.

The frustrated response from Simpson, a longtime ally of House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio), also rekindles the embers of House-Senate tension that at times plagued Republicans during their time in the majority.

“If that’s how they treat their own,” Simpson said, referring to Senate GOP leaders’ quick push for Craig to resign, “that tells me they’re more interested in party than individuals, and the party is made up of individuals. How you treat them says a lot about your party.”

Simpson pointed a finger at Craig’s leaders for staying mum on the legal and personal jeopardy facing other GOP senators, including Alaskan Ted Stevens, now under federal investigations, and Louisianan David Vitter, who has admitted contacting an escort service.

“They have people over there [in the Senate Republican Conference] in far worse trouble that they haven’t said a thing about,” Simpson said.

Simpson was not present for Craig’s emotional resignation announcement speech on Saturday, but said he spoke with Craig by phone that day. Simpson emphasized the bond between his and Craig’s families.

McConnell declined to comment on Simpson’s remarks, but Senate Republican sources shrugged off his frustration with their conference’s handling of Craig.

“Who cares what Simpson thinks? He is irrelevant,” one Senate GOP aide said. “We didn’t throw [Craig] under the bus. He lay down in front of it and it ran over him. There is a great deal of compassion for him as a human being and a colleague. But this is bigger than him and that single Senate seat.”

“Condemning decisions that were met with near unanimous praise inside the conference and out is an obvious political miscalculation,” said another Senate Republican aide. “If the representative truly believes that Senate leadership is the one that deserves criticism in this incident, then his senatorial ambitions are far outweighing reality.”

AMERICAblog: Sen. Larry Craig (R) might claim technicality

Matt Gunterman September 6th, 2007

If this scenario over at AMERICAblog does unfold with the Senator Larry Craig (R) ordeal, it will be hilarious. The problem for Senator Mitch McConnell (R) is that the longer this thing is drawn out and the more aggressive Senate Republicans become with Craig, the more questions will surround why the ills and corruptions of Senators David Vitter (R) and Ted Stevens (R) and the like aren’t being pursued similarly.

Is this going to be Craig’s defense?
by Pam Spaulding

From WND’s Joseph Farah. Please let Craig try this one. Mitch McConnell will keel over.

Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho, didn’t have to plead guilty to sex charges stemming from a men’s room encounter with an undercover cop in Minnesota.

All he had to do was hand the police officer a copy of the U.S. Constitution – the document the senator swore to uphold upon first taking office in Congress 27 years earlier.

There is little ambiguity in Article 1: Section 6, which clearly states no member of Congress can be arrested while traveling to or from official session.

Craig was arrested just after 12 noon June 11. He cast a vote on a high-profile cloture motion on the Senate floor at 5:55 p.m. that same day.

McConnell OK’s Craig decision to recant Guily Plea and Resignation. Hmmmm….

Joe Sonka September 5th, 2007

Well, well, well. It now appears that Sen. Wide Stance has decided to try to get his guilty plea dismissed (huh?) and recant on his intent to resign from the Senate. Bizarre.

What’s even more bizarre is Mitch McConnell’s response. Howdy Doody has gone from shoving Craig out of the Senate cloakroom to essentially sanctioning his effort to renig on his resignation and serve out his term.

Here’s Josh Marshall’s reaction:

Okay, Sen. McConnell has now sanctioned Sen. Craig’s bizarre decision to recant his guilty plea and his resignation.

What’s Sen. Craig got on Mitch McConnell?

Yes, Josh. It does make one wonder.

Here’s video of McConnell’s very odd statement.

NO PENSION FOR LARRY CRAIG. CONGRESS NEEDS TO TELL HIM TO GET IN THE UNEMPLOYMENT LINE LIKE THE REST OF US DO!!!!!!!!

Jim Pence September 1st, 2007

As many as 47,000,000 Americans are without health care insurance. Some of these people simply can’t afford the premiums and others are denied health care insurance for various reasons including, but not limited to, pre existing conditions. Most of these are hard working people paying their taxes and playing by the rules and now our government expects these people to pay for Larry Craig’s and Duke Cunningham’s government subsidized health care insurance, with their tax dollars!!!. There’s something wrong with this picture.
Thousands, perhaps millions of retired Americans, that have played by all the rules, have seen their their promised healthcare benefits taken away or watered down to nothing, I know because it happened to me, and now my government will take my tax dollars and give them to folks like Duke Cunningham and Larry Craig, the same guys that allowed corporate America to, take away health care insurance of thousands, perhaps millions of retirees and expect them to accept that. Hell no I won’t accept that.
As I said in my previous post this is not a Democrat or Republican issue, Democrat Rep. Dan Rostenkowski currently receives a pension in the neighborhood of $100,000 per year and healthcare benefits.
If members of congress expect those of us that play by the rules and get screwed to accept what is going on in Washington with Larry Craig, forget about it!!!!!
