Who would of thought, right here in Red State Kentucky people would line up for blocks to to see Barack Obama?
I can tell you it occurred and and I have photos and video to prove it.
Click here to view photos of regular folks going to the Obama event.
The event attracted so many Kentucky folks that a 1000 seat overflow was set up with closed circuit TV, but that was not enough. Some folks still had to be turned away.
I’m a 68 year old man and I’m here to tell you that what occurred here in Kentucky was a “Happening“, or as a person my age might call a “Hootenanny” bigger and better than anything I’ve ever seen here in Kentucky!!!!
I have put together videos of the event, Congressman Ben Chandler speaking at the event and a short edited version of Barack Obama speaking at the event. Click here to view the entire speech.
A special thanks to all the folks that helped this lowly Kentucky blogger get a press pass to the event.
Today, I’m one very proud Kentuckian!!!!!!!
Enjoy
Hmmmm. Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo (D) is not a super delegate, but the endorsement is interesting to see. Although barring some strange act that no-one presently sees Sen. Hillary Clinton (D) will win Kentucky on May 20, Sen. Barack Obama (D) will nevertheless be the Democratic nominee.
My question is: Is Mongiardo endorsing Obama to negate the earlier endorsement from Rep. Ben Chandler (D) should 1) Obama be the next President and 2) Mongiardo and Chandler meet one another in the Democratic primary in 2010 to see who gets to slaughter dementia-suffering Sen. Jim Bunning (R) at the polls that year? I hear that Obama’s people are very thankful for Chandler’s endorsement because it came at a time of need (during the worst two weeks of his campaign) and from a place of importance (the heart of HillaryLand).
Per a press release from the Obama campaign:
Kentucky Lt. Governor Daniel Mongiardo Endorses Senator Barack Obama
LEXINGTON, KY - Today, Kentucky Lt. Governor Daniel Mongiardo announced his endorsement of Senator Barack Obama for President, less than two weeks before the state’s May 20th primary.“I am happy to announce my endorsement of Senator Barack Obama for President,” said Lt. Gov. Mongiardo. “I believe Senator Obama can unite the Democratic Party and build a coalition of Independents and Republicans to win in November. A proven leader at working across the partisan aisle, he will bring relief to the hardworking families of Kentucky and a responsible end to the war in Iraq. As a surgeon I am particularly impressed with Senator Obama’s plan to deliver health care to all Americans, with an imperative focus on cutting medical costs for all families. It’s time for real change in Washington, and Sen. Obama is the candidate to deliver that change.”
On Saturday, the Obama campaign announced that Senator Obama will hold a rally Monday night in Louisville. Earlier this week the Obama campaign opened its 16th office in the Bluegrass state, as well as weekend canvassing in 27 cities and towns across Kentucky.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
It’s that time of year again, folks. As soon as January hits, I get antsy with anticipation for baseball season and, perhaps even more so, BBQ season. I hope to enjoy both this weekend. Squee!
Owen Covington at the Messenger-Inquirer reports that neither Sen. Barack Obama nor Sen. Hillary Clinton will be in Owensboro this weekend, though representatives of the campaigns are coming. Unsurprisingly, Sen. Mitch McConnell also has better things to do than hang out at the beer garden in McConnell Plaza. Of course, I don’t suppose he’s ever pretended to be a real “man of the people” or anything. (*cough* elitist *cough*)
Organizers are “working to get the other Republican candidate, Daniel Essek, to attend.” Yeah. The guy who, earlier this year, listed a Tennessee address for his campaign. The Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate who have confirmed so far are Bruce Lunsford, Kenneth Stepp, and Michael Cassaro.
Oh yeah, there’s also the KDP fundraiser tonight in Louisville at the Kentucky International Convention Center. I understand it’s quite a bargain compared to those thousand dollar dinners the GOP has.
Hillary Clinton squeaks by in Indiana with a 51 to 49 win and loses by 14 points in North Carolina.
Last night Tim Russert said “We now know who the Democratic nominee will be.” He added: “The Clintons have a big decision to make in the morning.”
I believe Tim Russert has it right. This race is over!!!!
Albert Benjamin “Happy” Chandler, Sr. did the right thing in 1947 and , in my opinion, his grandson Ben Chandler did the right thing today.
I was proud of Happy Chandler in 1947 and I was proud of Ben today. For me, it was a good day to be a Kentuckian!!!!

Fired up and ready to go at a Barack Obama Campaign Organizational Meeting right smack dab in the middle of Red State Kentucky in the city of Radcliff.
I don’t need a weather man to know which way the wind blows “Bob Dylan” and I don’t need political pundits to know that 16 years of Bush and Clinton are enough!
The winds blowing across Washington DC and into the heartland are putrid and I don’t need an environmentalist or an economist to know they are toxic and killing the American way of life.
The media and the DC politicians have a real problem and the problem is Barack Obama! Barack Obama is fresh, new, full of hope and they just can’t stand it and I don’t need the media to tell me the real issues will not be addressed on their outlets.
I don’ need a Lobbyist to tell me torture is ok, the Iraq war is a good thing, kicking folks out of their homes is a market thing, Brownie did a good job, devaluing the dollar will be good for us, 47 million Americans without healthcare insurance is OK, there is no global food crisis, and the National Debt is just a way of doing business.
All I need a new President of the United States of America that will represent me and that’s Barack Obama!!!!!!

Geoff Davis apologizes to Barack Obama, thus avoiding a black eye and a fat lip. Geoff, seems to have let his Jim Crow roots slip right out of his mouth.
Geoff Davis, sir I suggest you view the photos below and get an idea what you’re gonna look like when you call the wrong man a boy!!!!

I needed a break from the all the bullshit politics and decided to have a little fun so I put together the video below using clips from a movie I remember seeing as a child, “Annie Get Your Gun” and used a few of my Obama and Hillary clips and put together something lighthearted.

Republican U.S. Sens. Mitch McConnell and Jim Bunning laid out their case for Republicans keeping control of the White House in the 2008 election during Northern Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District Lincoln Day Dinner Saturday night.
McConnell, who is also up for re-election in November, defended the Bush administration’s decision “to go on offense” by invading Iraq. And he said presumptive GOP presidential nominee, U.S. Sen. John McCain of Arizona, has the right perspective on what must be done in the Middle East, as opposed to the two Democratic candidates who favor removing U.S. troops as soon as possible.
“We’d be kidding ourselves,” McConnell said. “This is a different kind of war. The enemy is not a country, it’s a movement … There’s nobody to negotiate with.”
Bunning used an even harsher description.
“The people we’re fighting against now are worse than Adolf Hitler and Nazis. And we don’t know where they live, half of them,” Bunning said.
Well Senator McConnell and Limp Dick Bunning, it’s not the terrorist kicking folks out of their homes, outsourcing their job, making education unaffordable and etc etc etc. It’s you and your right wing neocon policies.

U.S. Rep. Geoff Davis, a Hebron Republican, compared Obama and his message for change similar to a “snake oil salesman.”
He said in his remarks at the GOP dinner that he also recently participated in a “highly classified, national security simulation” with Obama.
“I’m going to tell you something: That boy’s finger does not need to be on the button,” Davis said. “He could not make a decision in that simulation that related to a nuclear threat to this country.”
Geoff Davis, I’m here to tell you that calling a grown black man “boy” will get you a real good ass whippin’ where I come from. Mr. Davis sir, I hope you call Barack Obama “boy” to his face, because I’m looking forward to seeing you with a black eye and a fat lip.
Who woulda thought here in “Red State” Kentucky whites, blacks, Asians, Hispanics, straights, gays, males, females and folks of every religion would have gathered in the hundreds to celebrate the opening of a campaign headquarters of a black man running for president of the United States of America, In Lexington, Kentucky. Well I’m here to tell you it occurred and I have photos and video to prove it.
Click here to view the photos I took and view the video below.
Senator Hagel, a man I don’t always agree with, but a man I respect, thinks the system is broke.
Florida and Michigan Democratic delegates.

New Bin Laden message.
Opinion:
Make no mistake about it I’m an Obama fan, but when I saw a CNN video, January 7, 2008, one day before the New Hampshire primary of Barack Obama’s black grandmother in Kenya dressed in Aunt Jemima like clothing, living in poverty, shucking corn, surrounded by chickens and clips of blacks rioting in Kenya, I knew what the message was and so did CNN.
A black man one generation removed from Africa and his poor black grandma living in poverty, wow Barack Obama must really be an asshole, and a black asshole at that.
Well, CNN I’m still a Barack Obama fan and I’m not falling for your racist innuendos.
In this election year we all have our favorites and my favorite is Barack Obama. Having said that it’s obvious that the Democrats have the best, by far, candidates running for President and I will support the Democratic nominee for president even if its not Barack Obama.
I’ve had the good fortune to attend 4 Barack Obama events 3 in Kentucky and one in Springfield, Ill. Below is some of the photos and video of the events. The music playing in the background is I’m Takin’ My Country Back is by The Honky Tonkers for Truth.
Barack Obama wins in Iowa and I’m not surprised.
I had this to say about Barack Obama 02.26.07 and I haven’t changed my mind.
I’ve had the opportunity to cover 3 Barack Obama events with photos and video. The Links to the photos and videos are below:
Special thanks to Joe Sonka over at Bluegrass Roots for getting us press passes. Thanks Joe!!!!!!
