More of the Same from Sen. Mitch McConnell

Sen. Mitch McConnell has reintroduced his inaptly-named Kids First legislation. As we have previously posted, this legislation would actually harm children and families. In case you need a reminder, please read the primer provided by Families USA. McConnell’s bill would:
- Increase the number of uninsured children.
- Take away states’ control over eligibility standards.
- Throw CHIP money out the window.
- Encourage people to buy high-deductible coverage that does not adequately provide health coverage for children.

I like SCHIP and KCHIP and we should expand both of them. We have our kids on our health insurance policy. I doubt a middle class family could drop their kids off their health insurance and make the kids uninsured to qualify the kids for KCHIP. Where does “Mitch” come up with these things?
