Hawpe drops name of potential new candidate

David Hawpe in the Courier-Journal today dropped the name of a new potential Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2008. I read it this morning, but since I was holding class for the first time today at 10:30am, it didn’t sink in until about 6pm that it’s significant enough a development to merit its own post. Here’s what Hawpe had to say:

(One scary rumor, if you’re a McConnell supporter: Soon-to-retire Brown-Forman chairman Owsley Brown II, a widely respected and very successful business leader, not to mention a zillionaire, is thinking about making the race. Some say he could be attacked as a liquor baron, but then McConnell has taken loads of contributions from the Brown family over the years.)
