Mitch McConnell — Bush’s Biggest Ally in Destroying Appalachia
Shawn Dixon August 24th, 2007
This deep into Bush’s disastrous presidency, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that the administration is putting regulation into place today that will give a big break to the coal industry by no longer holding them accountable for cleaning up the mess they make during mountaintop removal. However, the disgusting part of this whole process is that Kentucky’s political leaders are allies in this grand scheme to ease regulation on the coal industry whose practices are destroying our natural resources all across Appalachia.
From the New York Times Article on the issue:
“From 1985 to 2001, 724 miles of streams were buried under mining waste, according to the environmental impact statement accompanying the new rule.
If current practices continue, another 724 river miles will be buried by 2018, the report says.”
It’s one thing to be loyal to a president of your own party, but it’s quite another to help him destroy the state your were elected to represent. Shame on you Mitch McConnell. I guess you’ve spent too much time sitting in your D.C. townhouse to appreciate Kentucky’s natural beauty.

Why is anyone surprised that MM has no respect for the folks who live and try to raise a family in EKY. He only knows and associates with the rich and powerful who get that way by pillaging the environment and terrain at the expense of all who choose to live nearby.
It’s time to put MM out of power and return it to the voters
and those of us who value the environment and the mountains.
Remember, we are the ones who suffer the most when people like MM turn their backs on the ones they are SUPPOSED to represent. Vote Dem.
McConnell is bought and sold by the Coal industry. He does not care about the people of Eastern KY because they are poor and cannot help him. I am tiring of his so called “Christian attitude” at election time. I was always taught that God cares about when you help those who cannot help you. McConnell never learned that lesson.
Can anyone imagine if coal was discovered in Cherokee Park in Louisville or the horse farms in Fayette County, would those areas be destroyed?
If Louisville residents had to boil their water like the Jenkins Kentucky residents do would there be hell to pay or what? Retire McConnell in 08. He does not represent the people only the coal companies. He cant leave fast enough.

The next time I read a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I’m talking about, I know it was eventually my choice to read, but I definitely assumed you’d have some thing interesting to talk about. Many I see is usually a couple of whining about something you may resolve if you ever werent as well busy looking for focus.
