KY GOP Chair Steve Robertson: “Me no think so good. Flapping tongue hurt brain.”

Matt Gunterman July 11th, 2007

Ha! You know, these Kentucky GOP types just aren’t too bright. In fact, Kentucky Republican Party Chairman Steve Robertson, a Fletcherite through and through (and we all know how Fletcher has stacked his administration with the brightest bulbs available in the Republican party), gets today’s award for “Republican Who’s So Dumb He Can’t Comprehend How Stupid the Words Are Coming From His Mouth” (this award comes with no cash prize because it would bankrupt the benefactor in the space of a year).

Here’s what WHAS political reporter Mark Hebert is reporting Robertson had to say about the role of Democratic candidate for governor Steve Beshear and Kentucky Democratic Party Chairman Jonathan Miller:

GOP Tries To Tie Beshear to Session Fiasco

Kentucky Republican Party Chairman Steve Robertson says it was Democratic gubernatorial nominee Steve Beshear, along with party chairman Jonathan Miller, who orchestrated the House democrats’ decision to adjourn on the first day of the special legislative session called by Governor Fletcher.

[...]

Robertson says Beshear and Miller want to “torpedo” the special session so that Fletcher gets no credit for anything during the campaign for governor.

[...]

You know, Steve, July 2007 might just be a bit late for Fletcher to start building that “record of accomplishment” to impress the voters with.

Perhaps if Fletcher had spent less time figuring out ways to illegally get his cronies cushy state jobs, having to defend himself against all those indictments for all those illegal activities, jetting all over Asia and Europe and the USA on vacations disguised as official government business (anyone remember those truffles the governor dined on), making a mess of the state tax system, attempting to gut pension programs, doing the bidding of big business, and so on and so on — then perhaps Ernie Fletcher just might have a far more substantial record of accomplishment than he does now and he wouldn’t be having to throw something together at the last minute.

I have some friends I went to college with that work for this governor. They’re pretty much all twentysomethings and they lack all commonsense. It’s true what you’ve said in the past, Matt. These guys spend more time reading their Bible than they do working on governing, and that’s a problem. They seem to have this idea that by loving Jesus, Jesus will make everything okay, even if they’re incompetent. It’s about what’s in your heart, not your head for them. I think they should seek a little balance between the two.

Balance will come for them when Jesus makes everything ok come election day.

This Web site is stupid. Dems have governed Kentucky since I was born…and look how good a job they did! They suck. Also, the writing on this site is elementary and simple. You guys should pack it in.

Governor Fletcher didn’t do anything that any of our former governors did. All of them gave jobs to people
that they trusted. No one wants to have a quorum of individuals that are totally unknown. The media
appears to want the general public to think that Governor Fletcher was the first governor in this country who
hired people that he knew and trusted to surround him. What is so stupid about that? Even the presidents
and leaders on the local level are “guilty” of selecting people that they feel that they know and trust…for
the purpose of developing a familiar group for support. Familiar does not always mean someone who
may be a friend, but could be an individual who has developed a character of trust within familiar circles.

Responding to “Isaac Shelby”: You should be concerned about what is in your heart. Also, the Bible gives
really reliable information about wisdom and intelligence, if you are smart enough to follow it up and find
out for yourself. The Bible offers suggestions that would be great for anyone to follow, but some people are
lacking the ability to understand the values within the scriptures. For “Hippie Hater”: I also feel that the
responses on this site are very elementary and indicate intellectual suffering.

Correction: Governor Fletcher did not do anything that any of our former governors did not do. They all
hired people that they felt were trusted…so did presidents and local leaders as well.
