Bush Commutes Libby’s Sentence
Terri Whitehouse July 2nd, 2007
The New York Times is reporting that President Bush has commuted Lewis “Scooter Libby’s sentence, after an appeals court refused to delay Libby’s jail term. In his official statement, Pres. Bush says:
From the very beginning of the investigation into the leaking of Valerie Plame’s name, I made it clear to the White House staff and anyone serving in my administration that I expected full cooperation with the Justice Department. Dozens of White House staff and administration officials dutifully cooperated.
Yeah. “Cooperation” is this administration’s middle name. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why I have never been to a riverboat casino or Churchill Downs. I always count my money when I’m sittin’ at the table.

I thought rule #1 of Liberal bloggers was: “Thou Shalt Not Invoke the Words of Kenny Rogers.” Thanks for putting that song “the Gambler” in my head. Ugh.
Well I think we all saw Libby’s pardon coming by the last day of a Bush administration. I just think it’s funny that only half the country understands that he did nothing but fall into a perjury trap about a non-secret secret. Funny, wasn’t it the Dems who were mad about perjury traps back in the day? Oh wait, maybe Libby could have just said it depended on what the meaning of the word “is” is. That would do the trick.
Oh well, Libby is the scumbag that got Clinton’s financer buddy that pardon and avoided the D.A.’s paperchase back then… guess you can’t escape a personal vendetta afterall. Oh wait, maybe you can.
If I turn my back on Kenny Rogers, the terrorists have won. Lady…
I think taking any job in the Bush Administration is by definition a perjury trap.
What if Kenny Rogers is a terrorist. Or, what if “know when to hold ‘em” is a homoerotic reference. Or what if Kenny Rogers is a Mexican: a gay Mexican terrorist.
I assume Bush won’t see any “bounce” out of this commutation. I mean, he did it only to prevent further revolt of his base, not to win anyone back. It might delay his drop into the mid 20’s a little longer, but that day’s coming.
