Well, That Was a No-Brainer
Terri Whitehouse June 21st, 2007
How’s this for an obvious headline: “Senate Republicans block tax hikes for big oil companies”? Meanwhile, Senators Mitch McConnell and Jim Bunning are wanting to funnel more money to Peabody Energy.

Well, that proves it; we’ll just hafta Ditch Mitch.
Well I thought I’d hit you with a follow up… after reading about the idiot over at studentloanjustice.org I made a little post about him on my blog. I received the following email from someone claiming to be him (but surely the head of such a wannabe legit organization wouldn’t be this stupid, right?). Someone must google his own name from time to time to fill his little ego-driven heart.
For the sake of decency, I’ll replace all his cusswords with the word “puppy.” Enjoy…

First of all, who the puppy are you?
Second of all, your knee jerk bullpuppy doesn’t fly. If what happened to me (and what is happening to millions of americans) happened to you, you’d be flying your freak flag like a puppying hippy.
Finally, Here is My story (see below) as I posted it before you took the liberty of spinning it beyond all comprehension.
Feel free to email me directly at justice@studentloanjustice.org if you would like to continue this conversation. I see you have conveniently hid all of your contact info. Whats the matter? Are you scared to stand behind your words? YOu puppying puppy.
Alan
Okay, wasn’t that fun? I love how he half-way quotes David Alan Coe (the sign of a real leader).
No wonder the student loan jerks saw him coming a mile away.
And your puppying point is? I too have a mouth like a sailor at times, and I’m quite sure that I’d say as much if someone wrote speculative information about me and my personal financial situation because I speak out about something. Say, for example, when I’ve read I must be a welfare queen with 10 kids myself because I have spoken up about this ridiculous sterotype using *the enemy of idiots* - factual information. Never mind I work f/t, have a post graduate degree, and can’t have children. I’m a lazy unchaste woman just the same.
Secondly, despite Collinge’s potty mouth and perceived short-sightedness, I think he still makes a valuable contribution in exposing the industry. I was 17-years-old when I entered college. How many 17-year-olds do you know that fully understand the complexities of the student loan system. Do you really think the little 15-minute video helps enlighten borrowers all that much? At 28, I realize student loan enterprises are private. At 17, I did not. If you’re telling me you were as wise and diligent as a teen about complicated financial transactions as you are now, you’re full of puppy.
Thirdly, I do agree with you in that, if you’re really wanting to affect change by creating a PAC, it probably isn’t the best method to google your own name and cuss people out who are critical of you and who question your motives. One would assume criticism comes with the territory and be prepared to - if necessary - refute it in a better way. However, wouldn’t you agree that if anything were to change as a result of his larger efforts, it would really be too late to benefit his situation anyway?
Finally, I’m not really sure why you posted this under a topic about energy policy. By no means have I ever meant to insinuate that I look to Collinge as a leader of some movement - I do appreciate his Web site as giving a simple frame of reference to the history of the student loan industry. I wouldn’t quote it as a primary source, though.
Best,
Terri
P.S. I know he’s nuts, but I still like DAC. How can you not like someone who tucks his jeans into his cowboy boots?
