Fun at the Creation Museum!!!

Joe Sonka June 9th, 2007

I went to the truly insane “Creation Museum” last Saturday and have my full report up on BlueGrassRoots.

I’m a big fan of dark, unintentional humor, and that’s exactly what I got in my visit. What’s certainly not funny is that I could definitely see certain “Christian Academies” across the State (that teach Creationism in their school) bringing their students here on field trips. To call that child abuse would be appropriate in my opinion.

It also reinforces many, many negative stereotypes about Kentucky.

Another relevant question is how do our representatives stand on the museum? Do they endorse its views? Would they take their children there? Is this an appropriate field trip for students?

I haven’t heard any politicians take on this yet, and I’d be interested to hear it.

Anyway, I leave you a picture of Pebbles Flintstone and her pet Velaciraptor, Dino.

I love how they claim at the museum that all the dinosaurs were herbivores, and they base this claim on a scripture that says God provided all the creatures with plants to eat. So, what sort of plant did the T-Rex eat, then, to need those teeth?

Oh, there you go “thinking” again Matt. You know you’re not supposed to do that. Just close your eyes and BELIEVE.

I say that place is close enough to Cincinatti to say it’s from Ohio. Did you ever notice how people in Northern Kentucky sound like they’re from Ohio. Send it to Norwood. They need an attraction in Norwood.

In respect to public officials, it should be noted that the Kentucky Enquirer of May 29, 2007 reported the following Kentucky officials present which indicates support of the museum.

Among Kentucky dignitaries who celebrated the building’s ribbon cutting on Saturday were Boone County Judge-executive Gary Moore; state Sens. Richard “Dick” Roeding and Jack Westwood; state Reps. Addia Wuchner and Tom Kerr; Kentucky Court of Appeals Judge Joy Moore; County Commissioner Charlie Kenner; state Commerce Secretary George Ward; and Paul Patton, the state’s director of faith-based initiatives.

i think you all give kentucky a bad name. what happened to freedom of religion, speech and all that other stuff. if people want to see this attraction why is it considered “abusive”. i am interested in hearing how you feel about war museums, if a social studies class goes there, are the students subject to abuse — stories of people losing limbs, coming back home to no benefits, no job, no support??? No — in that case i am sure you and your group would call that a tribute to those who love their country. why cant you call this museum a tribute to those who love their Christian religion???? Shame on you, you all give kentucky a bad, stereotypical name…
