UPDATE (9:46pm ET): While I wait for the last few county results to come in to color the map, I’m going to eat some dinner and let my hands rest from all the coloring.
UPDATE (10:05pm ET): Must have had problems in Bourbon County; it’s the last one to report.
UPDATE (10:09pm ET): So, it looks like Beshear’s final tally will be just at 41 percent of the Democratic vote, thus avoiding a runoff election in five weeks. I know county clerks across Kentucky are breathing a sigh of relief that the commonwealth has avoided a costly and extremely problematic runoff election. Good riddance.
UPDATE (10:13pm ET): Here’s an observation: From the county winners map, it’s quite clear that all those millions of dollars that Bruce Lunsford spent didn’t come near matching the name-power and political machine of his running mate Stumbo.
UPDATE (10:16pm ET): Blood’s thicker than dough. From my readings of the Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer online, Bruce Lunsford put a lot of time and effort into that town. It’s Henry’s native territory and his mother still calls it home. Henry won it, and Lunsford placed third with 20 percent of the vote.
UPDATE (10:25pm ET): Matt Gunterman is officially calling Bourbon County for Steve Beshear because he wants to be done with Photoshop for the night. I colored it blue, and I bet that’s what it will be.
UPDATE: (10:30pm ET): So, with 99.4 percent of precincts reporting, Democratic turnout was 21.9 percent with 349,000 of 1,591,000 registered voting.
UPDATE (10:40pm ET): And, again with 99.4 percent of precincts reporting, it is the ticket of Beshear/Mongiardo taking 40.9 percent of the votes (143,000), with Lunsford/Stumbo following at 21.4 percent (75,000), Henry/True 17.5 percent (61,000), Richard/Brown 13.0 percent (45,000), Galbraith/Wireman 6.1 percent (21,000), and Hensley/Robbins 1.1 percent (3,900).
UPDATE (11:05 ET): Bourbon County has finally reported.
UPDATE (11:17pm ET): So, my native McLean County was the only county in metro Owensboro not to go for Henry/True. I figured Beshear would carry the county, but got worried when the most disloyal and corrupt Democratic office holder in the county recently published a letter to the editor in the county weekly in praise of Steve Beshear. But, it’s not Beshear’s fault when toad-looking nit-wits jump on his bandwagon. It is a good bandwagon.
UPDATE (11:45pm ET): I’m really tickled that we don’t have to go through this runoff mess. My guess is that the first poll out on a Beshear/Fletcher matchup for the general election will show Beshear above 60 percent. Now I’m going to write a few words about the Republican race below and then I’m going to bed.

So far, so good.
Around 6:45 or so, Beshear was leading Jefferson County with Henry (!) in 2nd. Polls were still open in about 1/2 the state though.
Sorry I don’t have more info - laundry, lectures, and bibliographies await. {grimace}
Really good night for the Ky Democratic Party. I hope this will be the first step toward regaining power in the state.
Radio here reports that Lunsford has finally conceded. I can’t believe Henry got more votes than Richards. Boo hoo.
Republicans are already throwing around that dirty L-word around with Beshear as winner of the primary.
I guess we’ll see which is worse: corruption/arrogance or perceived libruhlism.
Hell, with the way things are going in this nation and this state, who gives a flying flick about “perceived” liberalism. I’m a damn liberal and proud of it!
Apparently, enough people give enough of a flick for it to be used as the easiest pejorative to come out of a Republican’s mouth!
I range moderate-to-liberal, but damn it all to hell, if conservatism has given us the best it has to offer, count me LIBERAL!
