McConnell A Democratic Target in 2008
Shawn Dixon May 14th, 2007
We already know that Senator Mitch McConnell’s polling numbers aren’t looking good for his re-election and sites such as this one are a sign of a growing dissatisfaction among his constituents at home in Kentucky. But now, incase you missed this announcement last week, there is a growing recognition on the national level that Mitch McConnell is in fact vulnerable in the next election cycle.
Labeled a “roadblock Republican” for his unwavering support of Bush’s failed plan for Iraq, McConnell is one of four senators being targeted in the 2008 by some Democrats. The effort to defeat the incumbent Republicans is being led by Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts and Ned Lamont who ran as an anti-war candidate and defeated Senator Lieberman in the 2006 Democratic primary in Connecticut.
From the AP article
The Greenwich businessman joined Kerry’s effort to defeat four GOP senators up for reelection in 2008: Susan M. Collins of Maine, John E. Sununu of New Hampshire, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, and Norm Coleman of Minnesota.
Notice the other three targets: all Republican incumbents who are going to be in tough races next fall!
Say what you will about Kerry and Lamont, but their recognition of Mitch McConnell’s position going into next year’s election cycle is a good sign. It means that Democrats nation wide have their eye on Kentucky and are willing to put in the resources necessary to defeat Money Bags McConnell!

McConnell also made the cut on MoveOn’s target list. His never-ending support for Bush’s Iraq Fiasco is gaining him the national attention that we all know he deserves! MoveOn will target McConnell, Snow, Collins, Sununu, Coleman, and McCain on Sat. 5/19 with leaflet drops and other actions. Watch for details this week.
Thanks for the info Judy! That’s incredible.
Call General Electric at 203 373 2211 and ask for the public relations department. Then demand that the CEO of General Electric get Bush to end the war and then resign with Cheney and that you will no longer buy any GE consumer products until Bush ends the war and resigns with Cheney.
and
Please send or tell this to Senator McConnell.
If you do not get George W Bush to end this war in Iraq by December 2007 and withdraw the troops to Kuwait and the borders of Iraq and the Persian Gulf and then Bush and Cheney resign you will see a large amount of people in Kentucky and the rest of the United States stop purchasing General Electric consumer products.
Peaceful resistance through boycotting of your campaign contributors.
