Repulicans Planning for Post McConnell Leadership

Shawn Dixon October 9th, 2008

Mitch McConnell is in trouble. That’s no secret in Kentucky and it really hasn’t been for quite some time. But, now, even McConnell’s colleagues on the Hill know it. According to Roll Call, which is a magazine that DC insiders and staffers on the Hill read, Republicans are starting to plan for their new leadership when McConnell loses.

With polling in Kentucky suddenly showing Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) in a dead heat with Democratic upstart Bruce Lunsford, Senate Republicans are privately starting to worry their leader could be knocked off and have begun contemplating what their leadership might look like in his absence.

If you go on to read the article it seems that there is behind the scenes jockeying starting to form and people are quietly measuring the curtains in the senate minority leader’s office.

Perhaps as interesting, the article also has Republican senate aides conceding that everyone in Washington knows Barack Obama is going to win the presidency. When talking about finding a replacement for McConnell, one aide had this to say:

“We won’t have time to fight amongst ourselves,” this staffer said. “The Obama administration would likely transition quickly and, by controlling the House, be ready to jam stuff through. Our guys need to be organized and back on the offense immediately after this election.”

Rough days ahead for the Republican party. How will they live without a war in Iraq and with everyone in the country having health insurance? It will be a miserable existence for them.

Kentucky, you are doing great. Please vote this man OUT!
He is such a drag on Kentucky and the whole country.
He has followed Bush 100% time of the time and led us all down a dis
disasterous path. I cannot stand him for another 6 yrs.

The Dow is below 9,000 as of October 9, 2008. Gee thanks Mitch. I mean we really shouldn’t be worried about the economy of the United States. Should we Mitch? We should be worried about the developing economies of Communist China, India, keep exporting jobs, and forget about the United States. Isn’t that right Mitch? Don’t be stupid, don’t vote for Mitch McConnell in November.

Stocks plunged in the final minutes of trading Thursday, sending the Dow Jones industrials down more than 675 points, or more than 7 percent….
    The Standard & Poor’s 500 index also fell more than 7 percent….
AIG (AIG) needs more money, it seems, and not just to pay the tab on its $400,000 California resort junket. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York said Wednesday afternoon it will lend as much as $38 billion….

    HOW’s THAT BAIL-OUT GOING MITCH?

Seven Hundred Billion Dollars in Corporate Welfare here, Seven Hundred Billion Dollars in Corporate Welfare there, eventually we are talking about real money. At least that’s only two thousand dollars from each man, woman and child in the U.S.A. Reader, how do you feel about Mitch and Hal giving away your two thousand dollars to keep themselves in good with the wealthy Wall Street insiders, eh? Hey, Mitch, can I fly on your sponsor’s corporate jet? Kenneth Stepp.

Rumors were swirling after Craig, that McConnell was the next GOP queer to be outed. That’s all I’ve been able to find.
