Second Poll Confirms Senate Race is Tied

Shawn Dixon September 27th, 2008

For the second time in a week a new poll out confirms what this website has been arguing for over a year and a half now: Mitch McConnell is a vulnerable and beatable candidate. A poll conducted by Mason-Dixon and commissioned by the Courier-Journal found the race tied with both McConnell and Bruce Lunsford receiving 41% of the vote each.

This is very exciting news and shows that last week’s Survey USA poll was not an outlier.

When the McConnell campaign heard of the new numbers they wasted no time giving the press a preview of how nasty they intend to make this race over the next five weeks. McConnnell’s chief propagandist Justin Brasell quickly released a nasty statement that attacked Lunsford personally. He made clear that they will try to make this race about Bruce Lunsford in order to divert attention away from Mitch McConnell’s quarter century of corruption and failed leadership in the US Senate.

Too little, too late. This is going to be a fun race.

I have lived in Kentucky for five and a half years now. What really amazes me is the number of people that get laid off, are unable to find employment, and even lose their house and will STILL vote for Mitch McConnell. All McConnell can talk about is the developing economies for China and India. I’m sorry but this is the ultimate in stupidity. If someone threatens to shoot you are you going to give them a gun? If a Senator does everything in his power to export jobs from the United States why do people continue to vote for him? If a company exports a job and has to pay taxes to a foreign government to have a facility in that country then that company can write off the taxes paid to the foreign country on their United States income tax. Gee thanks, Mitch. Really, we need to examine Mitch McConnell’s record on jobs. In 2000 Mitch McConnell voted to extend most favored trading status to Red China, and then in 2001 voted to normalize trade with Communist Vietnam. Just look at any WalMart store for the “made in China” labeling. It wasn’t like this in the late 1980’s. Gee thanks, Mitch. People can not afford to pay their mortgages because the wages in the United States are falling. Gee thanks, Mitch. To cap it all off if you get close enough to Mitch McConnell to ask him a question all you will get is the blank bugged eyed opened mouth stare and no answer if McConnell does not run from you first. In 1999 I was a registered Republican, in 2003 I saw just how dishonest George Bush was and registered as an independent. In the last few years I have seen people who are stupid enough to vote for candidates that oppose their livelihood and the United States. I am now a registered Democrat. Listen to McCain. McCain wants to continue to export your jobs, continue wars in the Middle East that we can’t afford, and continue to send your tax dollars overseas. When the economy falls off further, McCain wants to stop providing services to Unites States and continue to send our tax dollars over seas. Yes there are people who are stupid enough to vote for McCain after all that he has admitted to. Lunsford and Obama will start to fix things if we give them a chance. We already know where McCain and McConnell stand and we see what they have done to our standard of living and economy. Vote for LOYAL AMERICANS.

I do not live in Kentucky, born in Tennessee, but now live in Arizona. I dislike Mitch McConnell so much, that I found this website 2 yrs ago. I usually do not write in blogs, but this yr. I cannot shut up. I have been praying ever since that you would get rid of Mitch McConnell. He has voted with G.W. Bush 98% of the time. McConnell does not have the people in mind when he is in Wash. the same as Bush and McCain.
With this bail out, we can see where their minds are, deregulate everything and have a free market. We pick up that tab for their free market, cater to big business and the rich. All their experience has been in helping their friends and not their state. There are parts of Kentucky, Tenn. and W. Virginia that have been poor for years and years. Why does that have to be? Our standard of living goes down every yr. and if you dare say anything, you get accused of being Un-American? Please throw McConnell into retirement, he has enough money to never work again. Do You?
And Kentucky is all wound up with McCain’s experience! and a war hero. He loved the Veterans so much, that he voted against the new GI Bill. He takes care of his rich friends too: gamblers, land developers, defence contractors. I will never change Kentucky’s vote for McCain, but it is putting all of us into 8 yrs. of the same or worse. He just said he would put the economy, in a freeze spending–well, that means freezing us out.
No earmarks for Arizona, absolutely right, so, Arizona gets nothing, nothing. Can’t even control our Borders. But stop putting McConnell in office, try anyone else, because Kentucky is a beautiful state. Your land is lush, and your people good and friendly, and you deserve better.
I hope McCain will retire, but too many of his rich friends keep him in office. But do not send McConnell back to Wash. You have to have a change and I am sick of looking at him.
