Sarah Palin On John McCain’s Experience

Shawn Dixon September 24th, 2008

When asked for specific examples of John McCain’s leadership with regards to regulation on Wall Street, Sarah Palin had the following to say:

(The video is only 12 seconds long and worth watching — this might be why the McCain campaign won’t let her speak to the press.)

The McCain solution for dealing with the current financial situation: political stunts and empty rhetoric!

John (everything is wonderful) McCain says, “The fundamentals of our economy are strong.”

Orders for big-ticket manufactured goods plunged in August by the largest amount in seven months.
    .
New applications for unemployment benefits increased by 32000 to their highest level in seven years.
    .
New home sales tumbled in August to the slowest pace in 17 years, while the average sales price fell by the largest amount on record.
    .
Premiums for job-based health insurance are up 5 percent in 2008, workers are getting less coverage for their money as health plans with high deductibles and fewer benefits become more prevalent.
    .

McCain insists his tax cuts for the rich can still balance the budget in spite of massive bailouts for predatory lenders. He really does think voters are idiots.

She can see Russia from her house!

In the second part of the CBS interview with Palin, which will air tonight on the “CBS Evening News:
COURIC: You’ve cited Alaska’s proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?

PALIN: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and on our other side, the land — boundary that we have with — Canada. [...]
COURIC: Explain to me why that enhances your foreign policy credentials.

PALIN: Well, it certainly does because our — our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They’re in the state that I am the executive of. And there in Russia –

COURIC: Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth. We — we do — it’s very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where — where do they go? It’s Alaska. It’s just right over the border. It is — from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to — to our state.

Gee back in 1988 I used to work at Kelly Air Force base as a contractor and Acuna Mexico was about 75 miles to the west on Highway 90. I guess that I am a foreign policy expert too. I have a feeling that if we start listening to what Sarah Palin has to say we all will be exposed to some great comedy at no cost.
