Mitch McConnell's empty promises and incompetent inaction to rid Central Kentucky of the incredible threat of chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction that are stored at the Blue Grass Army Depot in Richmond could end up killing thousands.

There has now been yet another dangerous leak of mustard gas, a highly lethal and toxic chemical weapon at the facility in Richmond, KY - something McConnell has long promised to clean up.

In a speech McConnell made 1 year ago in Berea, KY he joked; “My goal is to live long enough to see those darn weapons destroyed.” Guess what Mitch? We'd like to live that long too.

McConnell also said that while the project “may not be a priority for the military, its a huge issue to us,” He described the military’s attitude toward the treaty-required destruction as one of “I’d rather be doing something else.”

Seems like McConnell would also rather be doing something else when it comes to working for the the safety of Central Kentucky citizens. The sum total of McConnell's actions to date seems to have been to write a letter to Secretary of Defense Robert Gates over a year ago. Thanks Mitch for putting all that effort into this "huge issue".

McConnell can easily support a massive war in Iraq to rid the world of non-existent weapons of mass destruction but it's apparent that the best he can do for the very real and leaking weapons of mass destruction right here in Kentucky is write a letter.
