Mitch losing moderates and conservatives in the Rasmussen crosstabs

Some folks were saying that Lunsford would have a much better chance of getting the moderates and conservatives to cross over and vote for him than his main Democratic opponent. Well, check out these crosstabs from the new Rasmussen poll showing Lunsford beating McConnell by five points.

Moderates
McConnell- 37%
Lunsford- 58%

Conservatives
McConnell- 66%
Lunsford- 24%

(the fact that only 66% of conservatives would vote for McConnell is astounding)

Independents
McConnell- 42%
Lunsford - 46%

Republicans
McConnell- 79%
Lunsford - 14%

(once more, only 79% of Republicans voting for McConnell?!?!? Amazing numbers)

McCain voters
McConnell- 67%
Lunsford - 28%

(another wow… 28% crossing over)

Some more interesting numbers

Women
McConnell- 41%
Lunsford - 49%

Perhaps filibustering the bill to guarantee equal pay for women didn’t sit well with them, eh? They’re not fond of you either, Mitch.

Lunsford is also stomping Mitch among those making less than 60K and more than 100K. Regretting that SCHIP filibuster, Mitch?

Among those who feel that the economy is the most important issue?
McConnell- 38%
Lunsford - 53%

This will be THE issue by November. Yur screwed, Mitch.

The oddest result from the poll is that people tend to have a favorable view of Mitch. What gives? They probably just view him as the failure that he is when it comes to bringing results for the people of Kentucky. They want a change.

And change is what they’ll get.

The people who think the economy is the biggest issue got even more ammunition today, with consumer confidence at it’s lowest in 16 years, home prices dropping more than the past 20 years, and home sales at 17 year lows; despite a slight up-tick last month, and home foreclosures up again. Food banks across the country are desperately trying to keep pace, while food stamp use is up drastically, as their value decreased another 30% this year. Food prices up, dollar down.

Many low income people believe the misconception that a man with personal wealth knows how to manage money, and can therefore better manage the economy. This could very well work in Bruce Lunsford’s favor against Mitch‘s poor young country boy with polio image.

Mitch is arguably the biggest grinch we ever sent to Washington. His lockstep affiliation with G.W. Bush (28% approval) should be extremely difficult to overcome. But we never underestimate the gullibility of the public.

A question. What are we to make of this ?:
Two non-partisan reports based in Washington took issue with the Rasmussen poll.
“It’s delusional. It’s not only silly, it’s stupid,” said Stuart Rothenberg, editor of the Rothenberg Political Report.
“Rasmussen has been preparing wrong polls. There is no reason to believe that Lunsford is leading McConnell in that race.”
Rothenberg said it’s “realistic” to believe that McConnell holds an 11-point lead.
“That’s not a blowout,” he said. “The Republican brand is damaged and he is leader of the Republicans in the Senate. But there is no way he is trailing in the race.”
Jennifer Duffy, with the Cook Political Report, said, “I pay almost no attention to Rasmussen polls. The methodology is really flawed and they have a terrible track record.”

What has taken place to reverse the 11 point lead Mitch had in the Herald Leader last week? We can’t sluff this question off can we?

Now that all the Democratic candidates for Senate have endorsed Bruce, we move forward united. Let’s Ditch Mitch. Kenneth Stepp.

Mitch McConnell has admitted that he is the strongest supporter of George Bush in the Senate. George Bush has crippled this once great country with the help of Mitch McConnell. The foreign policy of Mitch McConnell continues to knife the citizens of the United States in the back. The selling off of the appliance division at General Electric is a prime example. I don’t know if we in this country will ever recover. Call it isolationism or any other false buzz word - We need a Senator who is loyal to the United States and will ignore organizations like the Heritage Foundation. The United States needs to be totally honest and quit trying to buy allies by exporting the livelihood of the Citizens in this country. Mitch McConnell just does not fit the bill. We need change. I know that it will never happen but it would be nice if we could start by deporting some Chief Executive Officers, Senate Members and Congressmen. Let’s face it wealthy investors do create jobs - Its just that the jobs that they create are not in the United States and do not benefit the United States.
