Deja Vu All Over Again. Ben Chandler Endorses Barack Obama. Youtube Video!

Jim Pence April 29th, 2008

Albert Benjamin “Happy” Chandler, Sr. did the right thing in 1947 and , in my opinion, his grandson Ben Chandler did the right thing today.
I was proud of Happy Chandler in 1947 and I was proud of Ben today. For me, it was a good day to be a Kentuckian!!!!

Congressman John Yarmuth introducing Ben Chandler.

Congressman Ben Chandler endorsing Barack Obama.

I’d say there’s a HELL of a lot of difference between being the commissioner of baseball and breaking the race barrier to let the first African-American in and being a rich, spoiled brat like baby Chandler who was able to endorse the 6th African-American to run for president.

And I didn’t realize how old you are if you were proud back in 47 that means you must have been what, 10 then? You were a very enlightened 10 year old so I have to give you credit. And I guess I should give you major credit for being techno-savy considereing you must be over 70 if you were old enough in 47 to be proud of MLB breaking the race barrier.

The Brooklyn Dodgers was my favorite team as a kid. Pee Wee Reese, a Louisville native played on the team.
The Brooklyn Dodgers broke the racial barrier and as a child I understood that was the right thing to do. Of course I was called a nigger lover and all of that shit, but when you’re right about an issue all of that stuff doesn’t matter. Kinda like being called a baby killer by the right wing neocons.
