ANDREW HORNE ENDORSES BRUCE LUNSFORD.

Jim Pence April 3rd, 2008

Andrew Horne, a man I respect, has endorsed Bruce Lunsford. I know Andrew, I’ve been on the streets with him protesting the Iraq war and Senator Mitch McConnell’s policies, but I’m still going to do my best to remain neutral in this process to elect a candidate to defeat Senator Mitch McConnell.
Today, the Lunsford campaign invited bloggers to a conference call with Bruce Lunsford and Andrew Horne. I participated along with Joe Sonka of Barefoot And Progressive and Jacob Payne of Page One. Bruce Lunsford took a risk in doing this, and I respect him for doing so.
I asked him how he would combat the old Chandler ads and the endorsement he gave to Fletcher in 2003. He said that he’s apologized before and made amends last year by staying positive and helping Beshear out big afterwards. He said that it was an emotional response to the Chandler ads, and it was a bad mistake. He also said that beating Mitch would certainly heal all wounds. To view the videos I was speaking of click here, here, here, and here.
During the conference call Bruce took the time to explain why he didn’t attend the Ruby Laffoon event in Madisonville, Kentucky and I found his reason to be acceptable to me.
Much has been said about positive and negative campaigning during this race for the Senate, but I believe that tough and hard primaries are necessary to vet and prepare the candidates for the general election. I hope none of the candidates take any of their options off the table so that when we get to the general election the winner of the primary will be fully vetted and there will be no surprises in the general election. As in the past I will do my best to post as much video as possible of all the candidates, as objectively as possible, so that the voters can make their decision May 22, 2008, after all it will be the voters in Kentucky, not the bloggers or the media, who will decide the US senate Democratic primary and I have great confidence the voters will make the right choice.

Many progressive Democrats are simply shattered by consistently being forced into the position of some revolting compromise. Allowing ourselves to lend support, and eventually be duped , by candidates who never stand and deliver has gotten egregiously monotonous.

Andrew Horne has turned out to be yet another disastrous choice who ran to the front of the parade and pretended to lead. He, and many of those who promoted his candidacy, now ask us to support a turncoat like Bruce Lunsford. Many of us reject this obnoxious suggestion out of hand.

We much prefer to allow a Mitch McConnell to remain as the minority leader of a failed, and disgraced party.

CW, I have seen your posts over the last few days all over the dem blogs - slamming Horne and saying you would rather have McConnell? [You can't mean that.] The posts came @7pm, 10pm 3pm 11am 6pm, and some are just a copy of the same post saying Horne pretended to lead while running in front of the parade. From the timing you seem like your a full time blogger, working for Fischer maybe? Mitch?

Either way, from a person that has seen Horne and has started to know him he doesn’t just talk the talk he walks the walk. In late 2005 and early 2006 when everyone was scared to say boo about the war he was there on CNN and in the street giving a lot of regular people confidence to say what they already felt. And unlike some of “good dems” he didn’t miss a beat when he lost to John Yarmuth he kept right on going and helped beat Northup. So if you don’t mind I am going to trust the Colonel. I just hope if Fischer stays in he doesn’t go negative like Hillary is to Obama and make our job harder.

Like Andrew Horne, I am on the Democratic Primary ballot for U.S. Senator KY May 20, I am a veteran, I am a lawyer, and I was on the Democratic Primary ballot for U.S. House in 2006. I’m suprised that Andrew Horne endorsed Bruce Lunsford instead of me. You can’t buy a Democratic nomination, as Bruce Lunsford should’ve learned in his unsuccessful run for Govenor against Steve Beshear, and in his unsuccessful run for Governor against Ben Chandler. If Kentucky Democrats want a workhorse, they will vote for Kenneth Stepp for U.S. Senate D-KY; if they just want a showhorse, they will vote for a millionaire.

My curiosity extends to the reason he missed the dinner in M’Ville. The Guv was there and the Guv is the leader of the pack from the laundramat seeking to scrub this scabmonger clean … so — why’d he dis the Guv, the Senator and the fledgling Demos of Hopkins County that’s just now recovering from Reagan-om-ics.
If he’s to work in the Senate, he needs to mend some fences with Dems from other states. If successful, he would be the most favorably placed Senator from Ky. far more favorable than Bunning, who at best is a disreputable Republican and too lazy to do anything while Repubs were the majority party and poster-boy for refunding his compensation now that the’re the minority. As for his worst case support … there is no room for this guy at the feed trough.

On the recommendation of VoteVets, I supported Mr. Horne. First, I could not believe that he had quit. Just quit. I could not get answers as to why he QUIT. I put that aside and moved on to find another candidate, Greg Fisher. Now he (Horne) is supporting Lunsford. I did not know the man personally (Horne), but he has no creditability with me and sadly he has tarnished VoteVets also. Second, someone needs to explain to Schumer all about Mr. Lunsford’s past trials and outright traitor activities. I feel sure McCain will fill him in if our Govenor doesn’t.
