Hopkins County Ruby Laffoon Event A Huge Sucess!
Jim Pence March 30th, 2008
This was my first time to attend the Ruby Laffoon event in Hopkins County and it was great. Special thanks to Hopkins County Democratic Party Chair Brenda Harris Glover and all of the Democrats in Hopkins County. I know I must have called Brenda Harris Glover 5 or 6 times the week prior to the event and she answered the phone every time and was more than accommodating. The Hopkins County Democratic Party has a jewel and that jewel is Brenda Harris Glover. I knew this gal was smart when I received a email from her and she had a .mac email account, OK some PC users are smart to but I found this girl to be exceptional.
The event included a great meal.
Four of the Democratic primary Senatorial candidates spoke at the event and Dale Emmons spoke for Bruce Lunsford, who couldn’t make it to the event. The 4 senatorial candidates were Michael Cassaro, Greg Fischer, James E. Rice and Kenneth Stepp.
Heather Ryan 1st District Congressional candidate gave a rousing speech.
Jerry Lundergan introduced Hillary Clinton and Hillary was well received, by those in attendance.
I hope to have video up of all the senatorial candidates, Heather Ryan and Jerry Lundergan introducing Hillary Clinton by Sunday evening.
I hope to have video up of Senator Hillary Clinton by Monday.
Thank you Hopkins County, I had one helluva time.

Wow! Great coverage, Jim! Can’t wait for the videos!!
Hillary, and Barack, could grant a great boon to the Democrats by attacking John McCain, instead of nit-picking each other.
Republican ECONOMY sucks: McCain knows nothing about the subject, and his advisor is mainly responsible for the crisis!
Republican Admin bails out big banks: McCain refuses to consider help for poor home owners!
McCain says ” don’t care what they say, I say we are winning in Iraq “: Iraq sinks into cival war between Shia factions.
Attack McCain, not each other. Enough of the mudslinging already!
With all due respect CW, Hillary and Obama have both mentioned that the Iraq war will not be a “bring the troops home” type atmosphere if one of them get the white house; McCain is a hard supporter of the war, but none of the three have any positive feedback for someone wanting to “bring the troops home now.”
Republican Economy sucks? Im not sure what that is. There are republicans that believe in big government ( democrat party/liberal) and others that believe in smaller government (conservative/ republican traditional).
Ruby Lafoon dinner was not too bad. However, for someone ( the majority of us) that just wanted to see Hillary, it took quite a while to see her. I’d be interested to know how many people there are true Hillary/Democrat supporters though. I had several friends that do not intend to support her or Barack Obama.
ALso felt it was a bit racist to see a little group of black women holding up Obama signs. Doesnt suprise me that 90% of them support him now.
I am glad to see Jerry Lundergan play a pivotal role with Hilliary’s win last night. He is strong leader for the Commonwealth.
