Last Minute: Democratic Senatorial Debate!
Terri Whitehouse March 11th, 2008
Via Page One comes news that the Metro Dems will host a debate tomorrow. Mark Hebert will moderate the debate between candidates Greg Fischer and Mike Cassaro. Bruce Lunsford will not be in attendance.
The debate will be held at the UAW Union Hall at 6:30 P.M. If you go, please consider this topic an open thread to discuss what you saw and heard there, as I won’t be able to make it due to my work schedule.

Unfortunately, Bruce won’t be there.
I hope to be there and videotape the debate.

That would be super!
I hope to be there. I hope the debate is open to all the candidates. I never received an invitation from them, but had notice of it on the internet. I hope to see many of you there. Kenneth Stepp, a Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, Kentucky.
Well, if by “all” you mean “only two.” Horne is out, Williams, from what I could tell from his Ag campaign, is…well…”not viable” would be putting it nicely. I can’t find much of anything on Rice, and Wylie doesn’t have any info/issues up on his site. I do hope there’s a more inclusive debate/forum to come.
Yep, “only two” is right. Rice is not from the Louisville area, therefore, he would not have been allowed to speak. Wylie is not from the Louisville area, therefore he would not have been allowed to speak. Williams is not from the Louisville area, therefore he would not have been allowed to speak. I am not from the Louisville area, therefore, I was not allowed to speak. However a club leader did tell the audience that I was there and I would not be allowed to speak because I am not from the Louisville area. Well, I guess that sort of makes sense. But would Louisville Democrats just be S.O.L. if the only candidates running were from out of the area?
They would, obviously, hold a debate where no one was allowed to speak. That would be a “silent debate”, kind of like a “silent auction”. Also “Mitch” is from Louisville, so the Louisville Democrats could host a debate with “Mitch” debating himself for the general election. My wife asks, “What’s the point of having a Democratic Party, if you’re going to do that?”
