CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect

of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this
Constitution for the United States of America.
Article. I.
Section. 1. All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a
Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House
of Representatives.
Section. 2. The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members
chosen every second Year by the People of the several States, and the
Electors in each State shall have the Qualifications requisite for
Electors of the most numerous Branch of the State Legislature.
No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the
Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United
States
, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that
State in which he shall be chosen.

McConnellism At Work:
According to some sources Ed. Whitfield is not an inhabitant of Kentucky and was not when he was elected, in 2006. If that is the case then Ed. Whitfield lied when he took his oath of office, to uphold the Constitution Of The United States. If in fact Ed. Whitfield was not an inhabitant of Kentucky when he was elected in 2006, he should not have been allowed to take the oath of office!!!
Does, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen mean that Ed Whitfield has to be an inhabitant of Kentucky only on election night? Who knows, but it’s playing fast and loose with the law to interpret it that way. Of course when a person of power and means like Ed Whitfield wants to play fast and loose with the law anything is possible. It sure would be nice if someone other than bloggers would look into this.
We all know where Ed Whitfield’s opponent, Heather Ryan lives and it’s not in California, Virginia, or West Virginia and she won’t be found taking trips, at the tax payers expense, She’ll be right here in Kentucky fighting for seniors and children.

    So Heather Ryan states that she plans on living “right here in Kentucky” if elected. If that is the situation, how does she plan on voting on the issues that are addressed on a daily basis in the House of Representatives?

    Seems to me that she plans on missing a lot of the votes.

    LOL Kevin, your sarcasm is amusing. “right here in Kentucky” means that she won’t abandon the people of her district, as Whitfield has. He doesn’t come back for recess unless someone is paying $200.00 a plate for a fundraising dinner. Otherwise, he’s at one of his homes in Florida, California, Washington D.C. or West Virginia. Note - no home in Kentucky for which he may return.

    You have some interesting comments. What do you say we take this slowly and one at a time so you do not get confused?

    Congressman Whitfield was in the district this past weekend. I do not believe there was a fundraiser this weekend much less $200.00 a plate dinner. He was in Hartford, Kentucky (by the way that is in Ohio County [which is in the first district for all of the geographically challenged lefties]). He presented a Congressional Record to the city for its bicentennial celebration.

    Next issue: Congressman Whitfield stayed in his Hopkinsville home on Saturday night. Please notice that the previous sentence says “his home.” I will repeat that incase you missed it the first two times “his home.”

    The problem with all of this “Inhabitant of that
    State” misinformation is that the people on the left side of isle can not find any thing else to whine and cry about when it comes to Congressman Whitfield. The people of the first district elected him to serve in Washington D.C. in order to represent the people of the first district and that is exactly what he does.

    This issue is a blast from the past. This all went to court in Christian Co. in 94. GOP candidate for Congress Steve Hamrick who had lost a close one to Tom Barlow argued the issue of having a residence. Whitfield owned a house on Winchester Dr. in Hopkinsville and it remained empty.There was no furniture, you could go look through the windows yourself and see and many of us did. Mr. Whitfield stayed during this period as the invited guest of Gov. Ned Breathitt at his lake cabin.Hamrick lost his court case in Christian Circuit Court.I don’t agree but anybody can run in any District anymore and no one seems to care including the Courts. The Whitfield family has a house off South Main with his Dad. Less than 1 minute from my house now. It was kind of a burn for all of us that Ed moved back after 20 years to run as a Republican. Most folks here don’t consider him one now and kinda like having a Congressman from Hopkinsville even if he is a Republican. Whitfield and his man here Michael Pate work with everyone and don’t make politics an issue. Granted anyone can be beat at anytime but it will take someone with atleast 1.5 million to make a run at it. Hint to winning First District–you have to be able to afford Nashville media market (4 stations), Bowling Green, Paducah and Evansville. NO one and I mean No one has ever had the money to do that except Whitfield and McConnell. So I have to respectfully disagree with anyone who says that former Democratic nominees for Congress have had the money.The DNC withdrew their money and promises from Barlow, Roy,Null and Alexander. When these candidates have sat in your living room at midnight telling you just the opposite then one can talk. Tim

    you need to talk to my republican neighbors both in their late 60 on Medicare one has spent $13k the other has spent $5k in the last 3 month on medicine, because of this donut hole!! all four are voting democratic this election

    Excuse me? How am I being a hypocrite? I (unlike Jim Pence) have never falsely accused anyone of being gay for political benifit. Supposedly these Dems on here are against that, but time and time again they have resorted to that childish act.

    To say all Republicans are Bigots is a gross lie too. But what do you care, you support bigoted idiots like Jim Pence! So I guess that makes you either a bigot or a hypocrit because you attack Republicans for doing what you do/support!

    And for all the lamenting you guys do about how Republicans but the gay sex admendment on the ballot to bring in votes, you yourself are bigots.

    You’re right kilowat… Eddie voted exactly as his conservative district would like to see him vote… therefor he keeps getting re-elected. (And it’s probably worth noting he went against Republican’s stances on minimum wage increases and the torture bill stuff).

    However, I would say it’s refreshing to see someone on here try to look to the record and to positions to attack a candidate and not to just rest on outright lies about their sexuality. See, that is political discourse. The other stuff is just revealing your (not kilowatts, Jim Pence’s) deeply-hidden bigotry and your desire to do anything to win.

    #16- Use some common sense. THe 1st has traditionally supported democratic gov.s and dems on the local level, but consistently votes republican on the national level. Why? Because we have nothing in common with Pelosi, Clinton, Barack, or any of the other beltway dems.

    I voted for Beshear but you won’t catch me dead voting for that left wing nut job Heather Ryan.

    Actually I was unclear in my post Terri, I didn’t make it clear that I was refering to the Dem’s leadership being unhappy with primary races dividing resources, yet you Dem-supporters attack Republicans for the same thing.

    Glad we cleared that up and I give you my appologies. You are right, you and Matt have supported primaries from the start.

    Now would you care to clear up wether you support using homophobia and bigotry to spread bigoted lies about candidates? Where do you stand on allowing Jim Pence to use your pulpit to spread such disgusting lies that only reveal his true bigotry and lack of character?

    If this matter about Whitfield’s residency had any legs, it would have been settled years ago. You guys won the Hunter Bates and Dana Stephenson residency challenges (well technically you didn’t challenge Bates but that RINO Steve Nunn did); no reason to believe you wouldn’t have won a residency challenge against Whitfield if it had any validity.

    The last Kentucky Congressman I can remember who did not live in his district was Carl Christopher Perkins, who lived in Mt. Sterling (the old 6th District) while representing the old 7th District. Of course state law requires only residence in the state, not in the district, but it’s still funny that someone who didn’t live in the district was representing it. Of course the reason that he won was because so many voters thought they were voting for his dead father, Carl D. Perkins. There’s a reason Chris Perkins appeared on the ballot as Carl C. Perkins. It has something to do with those intellectual heavyweights that comprise the Democrat electorate in Eastern Kentucky.
