He Got 935 Problems, But A War Ain’t One

Terri Whitehouse January 23rd, 2008

The AP is reporting that the Bush administration issued nearly 1,000 false statements about national security in the two years after the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001:

The study concluded that the statements “were part of an orchestrated campaign that effectively galvanized public opinion and, in the process, led the nation to war under decidedly false pretenses.”

As far as I’m concerned, it’s just another statement of the bleeding obvious. But still, it gives me a massive headache this morning. Doesn’t Sen. Mitch McConnell know that ignoring something doesn’t make it go away? Time to send him packing so he and his BFF George W. Bush can have more free time together next year.

It’s interesting that conservative blogs such as Redstate are having their pep rallies today over the anniversary on Bill Clinton’s statement: “I did not have sexual relations with that woman”, yet completely ignore the CPI report and the effects it’s had on the country. It was just a few short months ago they were celebrating the pardon of Scooter Libby as he was so wrongly set up in their view. I know that the “he lied, nobody died” quip is a worn out statement but it’s disturbing that they continue to have the audacity to disregard their own culture of dishonesty and abject failures at the expense of the American people while hypocritically pointing their corrupt fingers at any minute opportunity. White House Press Secretary and mouthpiece Dana Perino boldly made the statement last week that the CPI report “was not worth wasting time on”. This seems to be the mindset of the Bush/Cheney/McConnell regime. They demand to be above the law, unaccountable for their lies, and remain safe in their bunkers as they continue to bleed the country. Sadly, they seem to be getting away with it. Ousting Mitch in November would be a huge breakthrough in the dam that would drain the swamp.
