Mitch McConnell has Heather Ryan fired

This is truly a sad day for our state and our country, as Mitch McConnell has finally succeeded in having Heather Ryan fired, simply because she wanted to ask her Senator about the war in Iraq. Here is her latest email update. This will NOT stand, and this is NOT over. More to come soon. For the backstory on this, read here, here, here, here, and here.)

Friends and Family, It is with complete shock and utter dismay that I come to you this afternoon of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, January 21, 2008.  As you may have guessed, a dramatic turn of events happened less than an hour ago while I was at my office in Downtown Paducah, KY.  I was fired from my position as the Executive Director of the Maiden Alley Cinema for the incident in which Heaven and I asked Mitch McConnell about the war in Iraq.

It is absolutely unbelievable to me that such a powerful Senator would target a low income family simply to flex his political muscle.  But believe it folks, I am now jobless, on the day in which we use to remember the great Civil Rights Leader, Martin Luther King, Jr., because I dared to speak out.

Is this what President Bush meant when he said he would wage a "Shock and Awe" campaign?  Because that is where I am right now.  I would write more, but to be perfectly honest friends, I don't know what to say.

I will personally help in the “Ditch Mitch” effort this year. Let’s flex our political muscle and fire “Mitch” from his job.

I personally think that Mitch need to respond. Perhaps we can gather signatures demanding that Mitch explain his actions as well as a valid explanation of Ms Ryan’s termination.

The Paducah Sun interviewed Heather this afternoon. They saw the tape twice. Let them spin it however they like.

I’m wondering the same thing Buddy Wheeler is. Google, AP, and Reuters all come up basically empty. I’ve been crossposting this on my blog based on the info I’m seeing on a very few blogs, all crossposted from 1 source. A few of the right blogs such as
    elephantsinthebluegrass
are trashing Heather so at least they are acknowledging it happened. They seem to be referring back to maybe just 1 source. Was this in the Paducah Sun? Will this tape be made available? I don’t mean to sound pessimistic but I think if the evidence exist, the momentum could become quite strong. It’s time to produce a small amount of credentials and I’ll produce a large amount of support. Andy

Apparently Briansmith, we were posting at about the same time. I look forward to the Sun’s interpretation. Hat tip.

Thanks Joe, for working on a plan of action for tomorrow to get this story out. In the meantime, everyone can call, email, contact the tv stations and newspapers across the state and tell them Heather’s story. We have the people power to move this story!

She deserved to get fired. I heard a snippit on the radio. Her daughter had no right to talk to a U.S. Senator so disrespectfully. This is a good lesson for both.
