We Suspect it Happens All the Time

TPM posted a must-read yesterday about the voter ID case currently being reviewed by SCOTUS. In the TPM post, there is a link to a point-by-point rebuttal that disproves every last reason people like Sen. Mitch McConnell offer for requiring state-issued voter I.D. Worth the read if you have some time to kill and are as fed up as I am with presidential primary coverage.

When I went to vote last fall in Louisville, I was told that I had to show a picture ID. I told the woman that I didn’t think that was required, and she emphatically told me that it was. I complied.
KY: The types of ID that can be used by the voter include being personal acquaintance of precinct officer, driver’s license or other government I.D., SS card, credit card, or another form of ID containing both picture and signature (student i.d., for example.)
I think Kentucky only requires it if one of the poll workers doesn’t recognize you. This probably means more in rural Kentucky then in the cities.
As for the articles you linked too, they were pathetic. 70% of Americans agree with Mitch and the Republicans that agree that there is nothing wrong with making sure you are who you say you are. In any case, if a candidate gave me a list of regestered voters who have missed the last few elections and I could bet they wouldn’t vote this time, or of dead but still regestered voters, I could print out a fake utility bill or social security card and walk right in at polling place after polling place and vote all day long. If you require a picture ID, then I can’t. Simple enough.
The only reason the Dems oppose this is because they benifit from these fraudulant votes. Pure and simple. If they wanted to address their side of the issue from their “help the poor” point, then they would be arguing to make state ID picture cards free… problem solved and nobody would have any troubles. But that is NOT what Dems want… they want to easily be able to cast multiple votes. In some cases the Dems have gone so far as to make fake Voter ID cards for illegals (see the link in my last reply on your last post on this).
Truely pathetic that you guys (falesly) claim the election of 2000 was stolen while trying sooooo hard to make sure you CAN steal the next election.
Oy. Vey.
