They Protest Him There, Too

Terri Whitehouse December 11th, 2007

The C-J’s James R. Carroll is reporting that a demonstration is being held at Sen. Mitch McConnell’s Washington office. Apparently, Kentuckians aren’t the only ones disgusted that Sen. McConnell (aka “Big Money Mitch“) is in the pocket of the coal industry:

One of those sitting in McConnell’s Russell Senate Office Building suite is Ted Glick, coordinator for U.S. Climate Emergency Council, a Washington-based non-profit group that supports efforts to combat global warming and to promote cleaner energy sources.

Glick said he and as many as 20 others have been staying in the office and have demanded a meeting with McConnell.

Glick’s group and others want Congress to keep strong provisions for renewable fuels in the comprehensive energy bill. The House passed the bill last week, but the Senate did not, and Glick faults McConnell.

People are pretty fed up with your obstructionism, Senator! And we’re just itching to vote you out of office next year!

And would this Glick be related to the one that served in Clinton’s cabinent?

Being that the only “Glick” to serve in Clinton’s cabinet would actually be former Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glicman, I’m going to have to withold the cigar.

Um. I didn’t really intend a pun with the cigar in a post about Clinton, but I guess since it’s out there, I may as well and say “ewwww.”

As Monica said to her first post-Bill boyfriend, “Close but no cigar”

Oh wait, would this be the Ted Glick that was arrested for disorderly conduct for interupting the New Jersey candiates for Governor’s debate a few years back?

Former Green Party candidate for NJ Governor, Ted Glick?

By the way, I see there’s no word on here about Comment on Kentucky’s roundtable dismissal of ANY Democrat (including the great chicken Ben Chandler) having ANY shot at beating Mitch.

I also like how they took a shot at Chandler for not even willing to run for Governor when it was obvious he could win.

I applaud you for having learned how to work the internet, Herodotus.

how’s that enlistment going Hero? when do you ship out?

Terri, Thanks for posting the report from McConnell’s office in DC, where dozens of people protested our sad excuse for a Senator on issues too numerous for one comment on this website.

I wonder if Hero saw the letters in the CJ today about his friend Mitch. Readers across the state are furious about McC’s comments about our troops who died in Iraq. It seems he might care if they were drafted, but since they were “professional soldiers,” well, not so much. In fact, Mitch says, tough luck. How’s that sound to you, Hero?

Yeah, the C-J’s such a great an unbiased paper.

Herodotus, you seem to be grasping for some type of a “battle of the wits” here. Obviously, you’ve come up short. There’s a difference in countering with constructive rebuttals than tossing hate filled jabs that aren’t relevant to the forum. Did you read the topic here?

“Glick’s group and others want Congress to keep strong provisions for renewable fuels in the comprehensive energy bill. The House passed the bill last week, but the Senate did not, and Glick faults McConnell.”

Perhaps in your mind, serving in Clinton’s cabineNt or having an arrest record disqualifies Glick to ask accountability of Mr. McConnell? Another issue is not the Currier Journal being biased but rather the number of people’s letters of their disappointment in Mitch.

I can’t speak for the moderators here but I can assure you that they’ve been more tolerant of you than your friends at Redstate would be of less offensive left commentators there.
