Yes. Thank you Majority Leader Sen. Harry Reid (D). Sen. Reid is going to prevent Pres. George W. Bush (R) from appointing Kentucky’s homophobic and obstinate Dr. James W. Holsinger for the nation’s next surgeon general.

Reid moves to block recess appointments over break.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) put out a statement today saying that he will hold pro forma sessions over Thanksgiving break in order to prevent President Bush from using the congressional vacation to recess appoint controversial nominees. For pro forma sessions, Reid would “call the chamber into nonvoting sessions every three days — thus doing away with an extended recess.”

I also read that Harry managed to hold his democrats together long enough to defeat Mitch McConnell’s 70 billion no-strings-attached-never-ending-war-in-Iraq funding bill. Then they passed a 50 billion bill, with some limits. Harry says bully bush damn sure has no right to another blank check. Harry starting to grow a spine, or what? Still not veto proof, and still not making Mitch actually filibuster, but all and all a pretty good day!
This is the creative management that has been missing since November. Hooray for Harry and the other legislators who are in Washington to make this tactic work.
Team play is neceassary to defeat the bully of Kennebunkport Beach.
It’s also the way for more people to come alive and vote for Democrats in November. We desperately need a veto proof Congress for at least two years to revive the country after 8 years of Bush-baby and all the crap that got shaken off the ’shrub’ery while in town.
I’m glad Harry is finally growing a set, or so it seems. And, besides, anything that pisses off the wanking chimp makes me smile. Looks like Pickles will have to share some of her Xanax and Valium with the wanking chimp!
