McConnell is Shameless

Shawn Dixon October 28th, 2007

The good folks at WestKYPolitics just forwarded me an email that contained a media advisory from the Fletcher campaign.

If you want to see hypocrisy at its worst, it will be on display tomorrow in Louisville. Mitch McConnell and Ernie Fletcher will hold a campaign stunt at Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville.

The advisory doesn’t say why they are going. However, you can guess what they won’t be doing: offering to make healthcare more available to our state or the country’s poorest children.

This visit comes while Mitch McConnell continues to lead an effort against expanding the SCHIP program to cover 10 million uninsured and low income children in our country.

This kind of political theater is shameless. I hope someone at the hospital asks McConnell why he won’t vote to make healthcare available to those children in our country who need it the most.

Can’t figure out weather ‘ol scrooge Mitch wants to grab a couple of those kids in Louisville to sell to GAP in India, or maybe to start their basic training for deployment to IRAQ. He sure as hell won’t do anything good for them!

Judging from McConnell’s “bone-headed” decisions lately, I’m shocked that he would do something like this!

After all, Kosair’s Children Hospital is mainly run by donations and fund drives conducted by Shriner’s throughout the state.

As such, if he really wanted to make a statement, then he should PUBLICLY apologize to kid who had the brain-injury! Fletcher, on the other hand, isn’t making any points with the voters, maybe the “diehard’s” who’ll vote for him “no-matter-what”. He owes the people of Kentucky a apology for his corrupt administration.

Shawn, Thanks for posting this message. On short notice, ten people stood outside the main entrance of Kosair Hospital today with signs — “Healthcare Not Warfare” “GOP Smear & Fear” “Sen. Scrooge Smears 12-year old” “Mitch & Bush, What Can You Two Screw Up Next?” We had great mid-day visibility.

McConnell got word of the protest and quickly changed his plans. He went right to the airport instead of appearing with Fletcher. This small victory today that proves that we need to dog McConnell, where ever he goes.

It’s too late for Mitch to appear to be on the side of poor children’s health care, by doing publicity stunts. Maybe a joint Mitch/Fletcher appearance will help keep Fletcher in the governor’s race, but it will help pull Mitch down, and help DitchMitch.

Thanks for the report, Judy! Um…a small group of 10 people send Sen. McConnell cowering? Pathetic!
